Laser lipolysis - types, advantages and contraindications

Lipolysis is a natural process of breakdown of fat cells that occurs in our body when it is necessary to replenish an additional source of energy. Translated from Greek, the term “lipolysis” means “lipos” - fat and “lysis” - decomposition.

Types of electrolipolysis

There are two types of lipolysis: cutaneous and subcutaneous.

The procedure of cutaneous lipolysis (electrolipolysis) occurs due to the influence on problem areas (local areas of fat accumulation) of pulses of a certain frequency, which arrive through special electrodes attached to the skin. Under the influence of current, metabolism within cells is activated, microcirculation is improved, and excess fluid and harmful substances are removed from the body. Blood vessels stimulate muscle fibers, cells receive more oxygen, trace elements and nutrients. Fat cells do not disappear, but decrease in size, hence weight loss, reduction in body volume, and strengthening of muscles.

Cutaneous lipolysis is used for figure correction and treatment of different types of cellulite (fibrous, edematous, etc.).

Subcutaneous lipolysis or needle lipolysis occurs due to a direct effect on adipose tissue. A low-frequency and low-intensity impulse passing through electrodes - needles that are inserted into problem areas, activates the process of burning fat cells. As a result, the cells become deformed and disintegrate, releasing metabolic products into the intercellular space, which are then removed by the lymphatic drainage program.

This procedure has no contraindications and is performed once a week.

How does electrolipolysis work?

Electrical impulses accelerate the breakdown of fat, it breaks down into smaller components, becomes less dense and mobile, and therefore is easily removed from the cells. In areas where lipolysis is performed, the skin becomes more toned and smooth, and cellulite disappears.

Experts recommend carrying out cutaneous liposis in a course of at least 10 procedures. The results will become noticeable at the end of the course, since the process of fat breakdown does not occur immediately, but after 1-1.5 weeks. After the 2nd procedure, 20% of the fat is broken down, and after the last one, all 100%.

To be effective, you can combine lipolysis with lymphatic drainage (LPG massage, pressotherapy). The results of electrolipolysis last for a long time. This therapeutic procedure is atraumatic, painless and completely safe, with results comparable to surgical liposuction.

Electrolipolysis helps:

  • Accelerate intracellular metabolism and reduce the mass of fat cells
  • Warm up the tissue in “cold” cellulite areas, improve cell microcirculation
  • Stimulate muscle fibers and blood vessels
  • Improve nutrition of tissue cells
  • Strengthen muscles
  • Reduce body volume
  • Stimulate the lymphatic system
  • Remove excess fluid, waste products and toxins from the body.

The need for laser lipolysis

The main reason why patients choose this procedure is the opportunity to get rid of cellulite, as well as remove fat deposits on the face and chin. Already after the first procedure, the number of fat cells in the treatment areas will be noticeably reduced (approximately 25-30% of the required).

This method allows you to remove the volume of adipose tissue, but not weight (therefore, it is not suitable for solving the problem of obesity). The process of drying the subcutaneous layers suppresses the hyperfunction of the sebaceous and sweat glands - due to this, the effect is visible immediately after the procedure, each subsequent session also improves the result.

Main advantages of the procedure:

  1. As previously mentioned - quick and visible effect after the first procedure
  2. Without loss of ability to work - quick rehabilitation period
  3. Low trauma and painlessness
  4. Lipids are destroyed and eliminated from the body naturally
  5. Suitable for all age groups
  6. Laser ensures complete disinfection

As a rule, after a course of procedures, patients notice the effect of rejuvenation and improvement of the figure as a whole (if the body was treated).

What is lipolysis? Purpose of the procedure and its types

The topic of lipolysis is always relevant in cosmetology and constant research and developments expand the range of influences on this process. Let's look at the features of different methods, because the final result depends on understanding the principle of their operation and the appropriateness of application.

So, lipolysis is the process of lipid breakdown, and lipogenesis is the process of their synthesis. And when the balance between these two processes is disturbed, we talk about panniculopathy (from the Latin panniculusadipopus - “subcutaneous fatty tissue”, and the Greek pathos - “suffering, disease”. There are several types of lipolysis, each of them requires an understanding of the characteristics and competent implementation .

The most common are:

  • Injection;
  • Laser;
  • Ultrasonic;
  • Radio wave;
  • Enzymatic.

The most common of the listed types of lipolysis is injection.

Selection of a drug for lipolysis, taking into account the form of paniculopathy

  • In case of edematous form, the best choice would be drainage and capillary-stabilizing preparations, which include ingredients such as sweet clover, or meliloto (lat. Melilótus officinális), centella asiatica, bladderwrack, artichoke, rutin, spiral hedera. This task is fully accomplished by Cynara+ from the Spanish brand Innoaesthetics, as well as Lipotrofin from the Simildiet brand. They eliminate swelling, improve microcirculation, stimulate lymph outflow and strengthen capillary walls. These preparations are intended for use on both the face and body.
  • When it comes to the mixed form, we choose indirect lipolytics. These are caffeine, green tea, L-carnitine. In my practice, this is the drug Slimming (Innoaesthetics), which, in addition to indirect lipolytics, also contains rutin, as well as organic silicon, which simultaneously improves the quality of the skin. For a milder effect, I use Metabolites from Simildiet. They both work great when it comes to body lipolysis (in particular, abdominal lipolysis), and they are also safe for facial skin (for example, correction in the chin area).
  • If the patient has a fibrotic form of panniculopathy, then first of all we choose defibrosants - other drugs for lipolysis will be meaningless and ineffective. These are phosphatidylcholine and sodium deoxycholate.

    It is worth considering that the quality of the drugs and safety are important here, so no “dubious” brands and the introduction of drugs strictly into the subcutaneous fatty tissue (subcutaneous fat), that is, to a depth of 12-13 mm in the body! Processes such as a local increase in temperature, hyperemia in the area of drug administration, swelling, itching are quite expected, because we stimulate cell death! They go away on their own after a few days. Failure to comply with the techniques is fraught with necrosis!

Correction of age-related facial changes in patients with excess fat deposits

As for the delicate work of lipolytics on the face, the most effective drug that gives a visible result after the first procedure, developed by the Innoaesthetics (especially for work on the face), is Face Nade. It contains L-carnitine, cinara, tyrosine, lecithin, troxerutin, melito - this is the perfect lipolytic cocktail!

I would like to note that we still leave the work with hernias to plastic surgeons, no lipolytics in this area!

It is Face nade and Cynara+ that are the drugs of choice for me at the beginning of anti-aging and lifting therapy for deformation-edematous type of aging. After all, “heavy” fabric cannot be pulled anywhere, neither with lifting preparations nor with threads. The introduction of fillers in this case can also give an unpredictable result and swelling. To achieve a stable and faster result, I prescribe my patients to take nutraceuticals in parallel, which qualitatively increase the effectiveness of lipolysis. Depending on the problem, I prescribe medications:

  • Vacirton from Simildiet is a combination of plant extracts and essential vitamins necessary for varicose veins and thrombophlebitis. The drug improves blood circulation and lymphatic drainage, strengthens blood vessels, helps improve metabolism in organs and tissues;
  • K-linfo from Simildiet - a nutraceutical to improve metabolism and prevent the appearance of edema, promotes the regulation of cellular and intercellular fluid;
  • Reducer Plus from INNOAESTHETICS is a nutraceutical to activate the burning of adipose tissue, optimizes energy metabolism and promotes fat burning;
  • Lipotrofin from Simildiet is a combination of plant extracts that helps improve blood and lymph circulation, improves microcirculation and lymphatic drainage, and activates the removal of excess fluid from the body;
  • Metabol from Simildiet is a nutraceutical for accelerating metabolism, prevents the accumulation of fat deposits, stimulating muscle cells to burn fat as an energy source, stimulates thermogenesis (the process of heat formation), accelerates the process of fat breakdown, increases the amount of energy released.

Burning fats in the process of lipolysis - features and description of the process

The lipolysis process is accompanied by natural metabolism , which is responsible for the breakdown of lipids into triglycerides, fatty acids and glycerol. The next stage is the inclusion of these components in enzyme complexes, as well as the formation of a protective subcutaneous layer with the construction of cell membranes.

You should not use painful diets for the purpose of losing weight, because the process of burning fat involves energy consumption, which cannot be accomplished without proper nutrition. Most nutritionists are against fasting and suggest a balanced diet (which ensures natural biochemical synthesis in the body).

Neuroendocrine regulation is an important component of the process of natural lipid transformation. The effect of lipolysis is often enhanced under stress

Pros of using a lipolaser

  • non-invasiveness: unlike surgical liposuction, no punctures are made with laser lipolysis;
  • the method does not disrupt natural processes in the body;
  • no need for general anesthesia;
  • minimal rehabilitation;
  • no need to wear compression garments for a long time;
  • painlessness of the procedure itself;
  • uniform modeling of the problem area;
  • no age restrictions;
  • targeted effect on fat cells without damaging surrounding tissues;
  • At the same time, a lifting effect for the skin is achieved;
  • the doctor can adjust the power and depth of laser radiation to specifically suit your needs;
  • you visit the doctor only once a month - we take care of your time.

How long does the effect of the procedure last?

It is impossible to remove all fat forever, but you can significantly reduce its amount. If the patient adheres to proper nutrition and leads an active lifestyle (playing sports), then the results of laser lipolysis will last for a long time. Laser lipolysis will remove existing fat, but does not prevent the appearance of new fat deposits.

Fat begins to be deposited if a person leads a passive lifestyle, eats poorly, has some kind of disease, or is often exposed to stress.

What about hardware techniques?

Let's look at their features:

  • Ultrasonic lipolysis (US) is a non-invasive method based on the ability of focused ultrasound radiation to destroy the fat cell membrane. Once it is destroyed, the fat is released and excreted by the liver. This method is effective in removing small fat deposits. The most effective devices are Hifu, Altera, Exelis, Ultraformer 3;
  • Radio wave lipolysis (RF) is the effect of short radiofrequency pulses, during which the fatty acids are heated, which stimulates lipolysis (one of the most popular is Scarlett). RF, like ultrasound, stimulates collagenosis, which leads to improved skin quality;
  • Laser lipolysis is the most effective, but also the most dangerous of the above methods for losing weight, since there is a risk of necrosis, because essentially this method of lipolysis is based on strong heating of adipose tissue. This triggers the natural but enhanced process of breaking down fats into glycerol and fatty acids. Rehabilitation is short, but may be a little longer than after previous methods. There are such types of laser lipolysis: diode laser lipolysis, cold laser lipolysis, diode lipolysis, cold diode lipolysis.

Laser lipolysis technique - stages of the procedure

Examination by a doctor and initial consultation are the first stage of the procedure. Next, based on the received recommendation, an individual course and its duration are drawn up. The specialist will determine the required areas of laser exposure and its intensity.

Tests may be taken to determine the need for the procedure. As a rule, this is affected by the density and volume of fat deposits.

After the preparation stage, the procedure itself begins, which consists of the following steps:

  1. Laser treatment areas are marked with a special marker. This is necessary so that the doctor treats only the necessary areas, without affecting other areas of the body.
  2. Those areas of the skin that will be subject to laser treatment are pre-cleaned and local anesthesia is administered. The most common solution for numbing these areas is a lidocaine gel (or solution). The effect is achieved 20-25 minutes after applying the product to areas of the body.
  3. Next, the doctor provides piercing in the required places using special needles. A tube with a cannula is inserted into these punctures, through which a laser beam penetrates inside.
  4. Next, the equipment is configured taking into account the individual characteristics of the patient’s body. The laser immediately begins to act on fat deposits and destroys them
  5. After the procedure, the treated areas are disinfected and the pads are removed. Temporary redness may occur, so doctors apply soothing agents.

Recommendations for the period of undergoing procedures

To achieve the best results during the course, it is recommended:

  • exclude fatty, salty, sweet, fried foods from the diet;
  • drink at least 1.5-2 liters of clean (still) water daily;
  • drink less coffee and alcohol;
  • smoke less;
  • provide yourself with moderate physical activity (but not exhausting workouts in the gym);
  • refuse baths, saunas, solariums.

Your doctor will be happy to advise you on nutrition and daily routine after the first procedure.
