// Cinnabon - what is it?

Cinnabon is a world-famous chain of fast food cafe-bakeries, known primarily for its signature dish - cinnamon rolls of the same name (even the name “cinnabon” directly refers to the English word “cinnamon” - cinnamon).

Today, Cinnabon has more than 1,200 cafes in dozens of different countries around the world. In Russia, the company's mini-bakeries operate in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vladivostok, Rostov-on-Don, Yekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk and other large cities.

The company is proud to use only natural ingredients - flour, sugar and butter - when baking their famous cinnamon rolls. However, these are the ingredients that should be limited as much as possible in proper nutrition.

Calorie content and composition

With one standard-sized Cinnabon bun, you consume nearly half your daily calorie intake, most of which comes from sugar, flour and butter. Unfortunately, cinnamon rolls contain virtually no vitamins, minerals, or other beneficial nutrients.

In addition, we note the huge content of salt (1100-1300 mg, 60-80% of the daily value) and cholesterol (50-70 mg, 40% of the daily value) in Cinnabon. Such desserts are prohibited for both diabetics and people with high blood pressure or problems with cholesterol and triglycerides.

How many calories are in cinnamon

One teaspoon of cinnamon contains only 6 calories . If you add a couple of pinches to your food, you will only get a small fraction of this amount. Most of the calories in cinnamon come from carbohydrates, about 93 percent. Six percent of the calories come from protein, and less than 1 percent of the calories in cinnamon come from fat.

Cinnamon pairs perfectly with almost any recipe you prepare, from baked desserts to beef stir fry. It's also a quick way to add flavor to coffee, yogurt, or fresh apple slices. This spice adds flavor to any meal, but contains only a negligible amount of calories.

  • The giant cinnamon rolls available at the mall can contain up to 880 calories each. Therefore, they are best shared with one or two friends.
  • A fast food cinnamon roll has about half as many calories (418), unless you get the "deluxe" version, which is larger and therefore contains more calories.
  • The mini version contains only 101 calories per roll. Buy pre-made cinnamon rolls at the supermarket; each roll will contain about 145 calories.
  • You can make a healthier option at home. Use partial whole wheat flour to increase the amount of fiber. Each roll will contain about 180 calories.

Step-by-step preparation

  1. Step 1:

    Prepare ingredients for making dough. Remove the butter from the refrigerator in advance so that it has time to soften. The eggs should also be at room temperature. It may take a little more or less flour.

  2. Step 2:

    Heat the milk to a temperature of about 37-38 degrees. It should feel pleasantly warm to the touch, but not hot. Add a tablespoon of sugar and yeast to the milk. Stir, cover with a towel and leave for 20 minutes. During this time, the yeast should be activated and rise with a cap.

  3. Step 3:

    While the yeast is waking up, beat the butter with the remaining sugar.

  4. Step 4:

    Add eggs, beat until smooth.

  5. Step 5:

    Pour the egg mixture into the yeast, mix gently with a spatula.

  6. Step 6:

    Sift flour and salt into the resulting mixture. Do not add flour all at once, add about 2/3 of the total volume.

  7. Step 7:

    Knead the dough. Add remaining flour as needed. Don't overdo it; the dough should remain soft. Too much flour makes baked goods tough. The dough will quickly become smooth and homogeneous. Gather it into a ball, cover with a towel and leave for an hour in a warm place to rise.

  8. Step 8:

    While the dough is rising, prepare the filling. The butter should be soft. I used cane sugar, it gives the baked goods a caramel taste, but you can also use regular white sugar.

  9. Step 9:

    Mix sugar and cinnamon together.

  10. Step 10:

    During the rise, the dough will approximately double in size.

  11. Step 11:

    Dust your work surface with flour and place the dough on it. Using your hands, spread it into a square. It is very pliable, you don't need a rolling pin. Then fold the square with an envelope: first one edge to the center, then cover it with the second edge.

  12. Step 12:

    Fold the other two edges in the same way.

  13. Step 13:

    Turn the resulting workpiece over, seam side down, and cover with a bowl. Leave to rest for 15 minutes.

  14. Step 14:

    Then roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1cm thick.

  15. Step 15:

    Brush it evenly with soft butter.

  16. Step 16:

    Sprinkle with an even layer of cinnamon and sugar.

  17. Step 17:

    Roll the dough into a tight roll. Mark the lines on the roll along which you will cut it. The most convenient way to cut the roll is with dental floss. She won't crumple the dough. I got 12 pieces.

  18. Step 18:

    Place the pieces on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Be sure to leave gaps between them. Cover the baking sheet with a towel and leave for an hour.

  19. Step 19:

    After an hour, the buns will have grown in size. Place them in an oven preheated to 190°C. The buns need to be baked for about 25 minutes.

  20. Step 20:

    While the buns are baking, prepare the cream.

  21. Step 21:

    Mix soft butter, cheese and powder until smooth.

  22. Step 22:

    Remove the finished buns from the oven.

  23. Step 23:

    Lubricate them with cream when they have cooled to a warm state.

The synabons turned out very successful! I liked the dough - soft and airy. I would make twice as much cream.

Viennese cinnamon bun

Denmark and Sweden are considered the birthplace of cinnamon rolls - it was in these countries that at the beginning of the 18th century they changed the traditional recipe for Viennese pastries by adding cinnamon to its composition. The sweet treat has become so popular in Sweden that since October 4, 1999, the country has celebrated “Cinnamon Bun Day” every year, and the average Swede eats 316 super-calorie buns a year².

It should be noted that, due to the popularity of traditional cinnamon rolls, Cinnabon coffee shops do not operate in Europe - here this brand is known exclusively to residents of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Greece and Poland. At the same time, the main difference between a regular cinnamon roll and a Cinnabon is the significantly increased size - and, accordingly, calorie content.

How is it baked by Cinnabon?

Different variations of Cinnabon differ in the topping (what each dessert is topped with), but the bun itself is baked the same. Depending on whether caramel is used or not, the calorie content also changes. The main ingredients of such a bun are always refined sugar, white bread flour, butter and a little cinnamon.

At the same time, baking the bun itself for Sinabon is quite simple - first you take the sweet dough, then it is rolled out to a thickness of 0.5-0.7 cm, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar and rolled into rolls for soaking in butter. After this, the workpiece is cut into portions and baked in the oven for about 30 minutes at 170 degrees Celsius. Finally, the bun can be topped with syrup.

The peculiarity of lean buns is that they are prepared without milk, but their taste is no worse than “dairy” buns.

  • 120 ml water (warm);
  • two glasses of flour (sifted);
  • 2 tbsp. regular and 1 tbsp. vanilla sugar;
  • large spoon rast. oils;
  • tsp yeast;

For filling, 1.5 tbsp. sugar and cinnamon.

For syrup 3 tbsp. water and tsp. Sahara.

  1. Stir granulated sugar and yeast in water and let stand for 15 minutes in a warm place.
  2. Add vanilla sugar, butter and mix.
  3. Add flour and prepare the dough. Place it in a bowl, cover with a towel and leave it warm for two hours.
  4. Roll out the layer, sprinkle it evenly with sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Roll and cut into desired size buns. Coat them with syrup of sugar and water and leave to proof for half an hour.
  6. Cook in a heat-resistant form at 180°C for about half an hour.

When baking cinnamon rolls from yeast dough in the oven, you need to focus not so much on the time, but on the appearance of the buns. Because The power of all ovens is different, baking time can vary greatly.

About the buns:

What are the calorie content of buns, what dietary properties do they have? All this is very interesting for those who are trying to lead a healthy lifestyle and take care of their health and figure. So we will try to answer these questions in the next article.

Buns are baked from yeast dough. The main components of yeast dough are flour, liquid (milk, water, a mixture of milk and water or cream), yeast, salt. Depending on the type of dough, fats (butter, margarine, vegetable oil or animal fats), eggs or egg yolks, sugar, flavorings, raisins, candied fruits, etc. are added.

You can also add boiled potatoes, pumpkin, carrots or cottage cheese to the yeast dough.

Yeast mushrooms reproduce best at a temperature of 28-35 ° C, so the liquid intended for the dough is heated to 30-35 ° C, and other products are first kept in a warm room. Knead the dough, let it rise (under a napkin) and shape it in a warm room with an even temperature, without drafts.

The cutting board should also be kept in a warm room before use so that the dough does not cool down during shaping.

In the cold, yeast multiplies slowly; if the temperature is too high, they die and the dough does not rise.

Basic yeast dough recipes:

½ liter of milk or a mixture of milk and water, 25-30 g of yeast, 1 tbsp. l. sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt, 50 g of margarine or fat, 900 g of wallpaper flour or premium or 1st grade wheat flour.

½ liter of milk or a mixture of milk and water, 25-30 g of yeast, 25-100 g of sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of crushed cardamom, 1 egg, 50-100 g of butter or margarine, 800-900 g of flour.

½ l milk or 20% sour cream, 50-60 g yeast, 100-200 g sugar, ½ -1 teaspoon salt, ½ - 1 teaspoon chopped cardamom, grated zest of ½ lemon, 2 eggs or 3-4 egg yolks , 150-250 g butter or margarine, 1-1.1 kg flour, premium, if desired, 2 tbsp. spoons of chopped candied fruit, 100-200 g of raisins.

Almost always, buns have increased nutritional value and calorie content. This is not always a plus: anyone who fears for their figure or leads a sedentary lifestyle considers such nutritional value of buns as the main enemy of their figure. However, it is the calorie content of the bun that allows it to satisfy hunger during hard work or in conditions of an inconsistent diet.

    Cinnamon for hair lightening

    A honey and cinnamon hair mask can have a brightening effect. Why so insecure? Look for photo reports of people who have tried this recipe on the Internet, and you will understand everything yourself. Most reviews either talk about the benefits or scare me with a burning sensation; in the end, the masks either help or don’t help. Moreover, all this is usually told in one review. The photographs demonstrate the effect of a “sun flare” lightening gel, that is, the hair becomes 2-3 shades closer to blonde. No one has yet succeeded in becoming blonde with honey and cinnamon; to obtain a visible effect, the mask is applied several times every 2-3 days.
