After the required time has passed, the bananas are cooled and placed in glass jars for storage. Such fruits can be eaten in their pure form, or can be added to various dishes.

Which bananas are better to choose: green ones or overripe ones with brown spots?

Those who are overweight, prone to diabetes or weight gain should prefer green or yellow-green, slightly unripe bananas. Greenish bananas have a lower glycemic index than ripe and overripe ones, meaning they increase blood glucose levels less. Green bananas contain so-called insoluble starch, which is now being actively studied from the point of view of body weight correction, diabetes control and carbohydrate metabolism disorders in general.

But from the point of view of the content of vitamins, micro- and macroelements, more ripe bananas win. Moreover, it is in overripe bananas with dark spots that there is more of those same catechins: antioxidants with antitumor activity. As it matures, the amount of fiber also changes. More mature and sweet fruits contain more fiber, but also more sugar.

Do boiled bananas retain their beneficial properties?

Bananas are eaten not only fresh, but also subjected to heat treatment, such as boiling. After exposure of fruits to high temperatures, they become sweeter, but lose some of their vitamins. Boiled bananas retain dietary fiber, fiber, and pectin, which makes it possible to normalize the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract. In addition, boiled bananas are a source of energy.

People with diabetes can consume boiled bananas in very limited quantities, so as not to provoke a spike in insulin in the body.

Benefits for the skin and skeletal system

Bananas contain quite a lot of calcium, which, as is known, acts as a building material for the skeletal system of the human body. And pectin helps remove various toxins from the body, which improves the condition of the skin, it acquires a healthier shade and becomes smooth and elastic. Health from the inside is always the most effective.

Are green bananas healthy?

Green bananas are not unripe fruits, but special varieties, the so-called “plantains” or “plantains”. Before eating, such bananas need to be exposed to high temperatures - fried or boiled. They can be cooked in sugar syrup, stewed and blanched. After heat treatment, green bananas are better digestible.

Small green bananas are considered to be the healthiest for the body. This variety is called "vegetable". Such fruits help regulate blood pressure and are a means of preventing hypertension and atherosclerosis.

Green bananas have a high potassium content, which protects the nervous and cardiovascular systems from external damage. Eating green bananas is beneficial for the musculoskeletal system, as they do not interfere with the excretion of calcium from the body. Green fruits can be eaten against the background of stomach ulcers, constipation and diarrhea.

Positive effects of green bananas: conclusions

Overall, studies have shown health benefits using green banana products, most of which are related to gastrointestinal symptoms/diseases, followed by glycemic/insulin metabolism, weight control, and kidney and liver complications associated with diabetes, most studies using flour from green banana. A study on a group of children found that green banana pulp had a positive effect on both diarrhea and constipation. In a group of healthy adults, green banana pulp increased satiety and affected glucose homeostasis, similar findings were found for green banana flour and starch. For type 2 diabetes in adults, studies have shown reduced body weight and increased insulin sensitivity with consumption of green pulp. Among overweight women, consumption of green pulp improved anthropometric data (weight and body composition), lipid profile and inflammatory parameters. However, no standards have yet been established regarding dosage/effects for different age groups based on the variety of green banana products available and based on their level of ripeness. Additionally, few studies have well characterized the chemical composition of the green banana product used.

How can banana peels be useful?

Banana peels may be beneficial for human health. It contains the same vitamins and microelements as the fruit itself, but the peel is an absolutely non-calorie product. It contains carotenoids and polyphenols, which speed up metabolic processes in the body. It also contains serotonin to improve mood and lutein to prevent cataracts.

However, many suppliers, in order to prevent banana spoilage, treat the peel with various chemicals that can be harmful to the human body. Therefore, before using banana peels, they must be properly processed.

You can use the peel as follows:

  • Prepare a decoction of banana peels. It must be placed in boiling water for 10 minutes, then remove the broth from the heat and cool. The peel must be discarded, and the resulting broth can be added to any juices, compotes or smoothies. This will make your favorite drinks more fortified.
  • The peel can be used to whiten tooth enamel. To this end, after each brushing of your teeth, you need to wipe their surface with the soft side of a banana peel. This will help get rid of stains on your teeth enamel, and will also make it possible to reduce the harm from using toothpaste that contains various chemical compounds. In addition, the peel contains minerals that will be beneficial for teeth.
  • You can use ripe banana peel to improve the condition of your facial skin. For this purpose, you need to gently massage your face with the peel, rubbing the soft contents into the skin. It is useful to perform this massage once every 3-4 days. Banana peel will act as a soft peeling, gradually whitening the skin of the face, evening out its tone, and smoothing out fine wrinkles.
  • Banana peels can help get rid of warts. To do this, you just need to wipe the growth with the soft side of the peel every day before going to bed.
  • Fruit acids, minerals and vitamins contained in banana peel help eliminate minor inflammations on the skin. To do this, you just need to wipe the problem area with the soft side of the peel. This method can be used to reduce itching and inflammation from bites of various insects: mosquitoes, wasps or bees. In the same way, you can relieve skin irritation after shaving.
  • Laying a banana peel on the bottom of the pan and then frying the meat on it will make it soft and juicy. In addition, the product will not burn or spoil. Naturally, before using the peel, you need to wash it well.

How to eat banana correctly

In everyday life, even a small child can easily cope with peeling a banana peel. It is enough to remove it and you can enjoy the wonderful taste of an exotic fruit by biting off in small pieces.

At formal receptions, there is a prescribed etiquette on how to properly eat a banana. Usually it is served on the table already peeled and cut into portions. Prick a piece with a fork and put it in your mouth.

If the banana is cut too large, it must be further divided into small pieces. This piece is easier to chew. The unpeeled fruit on a plate is peeled with a knife and fork and cut into pieces.

Why is it healthy to eat banana with milk and kefir?

You can often hear information that bananas should not be combined with dairy products, in particular milk and kefir. In fact, such a combination can actually provoke bloating, indigestion and fermentation processes in the intestines, especially if a person already has diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.

However, there is a diet that is based specifically on the combination of milk and bananas. People who follow it are recommended to eat 1 banana 3 times a day, washed down with a glass of milk. This will cleanse the body and saturate it with beneficial microelements contained in bananas.

You should not stick to this diet for a long time. In this case, the milk should not be too fat; it is recommended to use a product with a fat content of 1.5%. At the same time, you need to drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration. The volume of clean water you drink per day should be at least 2 liters. It should be understood that such a diet is extremely extreme and in a short time allows you to get rid of several kilograms of weight.

Contraindications for eating bananas

However, despite the fact that bananas have a wide variety of beneficial properties, there are also a number of contraindications to their consumption. When giving your baby bananas, be sure to remember that bananas themselves are quite a heavy food. They are digested very slowly, which impedes the flow of bile and increases gas formation. Therefore, if your baby is prone to colic and flatulence, you should not feed him bananas too often.

By the way, everyone without exception needs to eat bananas very slowly, chewing them thoroughly. And under no circumstances should you allow your child to drink bananas or any dishes made from them with cold water. It is much wiser to offer your child hot tea. And if your baby has gastritis with high acidity, it is better not to give him bananas at all.

Unfortunately, recently cases of diabetes mellitus in children are becoming more and more common. And such children need to be especially careful when eating bananas - a ripe banana fruit is wonderfully capable of increasing sharply dropped blood sugar levels, but they cannot be eaten every day. But at the same time, slightly unripe fruits are very, very useful.

By the way, ripe bananas that have been subjected to heat treatment, for example, baked in the oven, have a good therapeutic effect in cases where the baby begins to cough. Of course, a banana will not be able to cope with pneumonia, but a slight cough will very quickly disappear.

Banana is one of the most essential foods in baby food. Banana, due to its low fiber content, is ideal for use as a first food. Banana puree simply ideally meets the requirements for baby food: it has a delicate consistency and a pleasant smell, and all children, without exception, like its taste.

Banana is a very high-calorie product, so for low-weight babies it is simply a godsend - a very small amount of food will fully satisfy all the child’s energy requirements. But if the baby is overweight, you need to be extremely, extremely careful with bananas and not get carried away with too many of them.

It was already mentioned above that bananas are contraindicated for children who suffer from gastritis caused by high acidity. Well, if the acidity of gastritis is low, a banana can be the best medicine. Bananas stimulate increased secretion of special mucus, which protects the inner walls of the stomach from irritation, and stimulate the healing of the epithelium.

Many children are faced with the regular occurrence of such an unpleasant phenomenon as stomatitis. In order to alleviate the baby’s condition and speed up the healing process, nutritionists recommend that parents give the child a piece of banana and make sure that he does not immediately swallow it, but chews it slowly and holds it in the mouth for several minutes. This procedure must be repeated at least every two hours, and as a result, the disease will subside within a day.

How will cottage cheese with banana be useful?

The combination of cottage cheese and bananas is often recommended to be included in the diet when following various diets. Thanks to these products, you can replenish the reserves of carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals in the body. In addition, after eating cottage cheese with bananas, you do not feel hungry for a long time. For example, there is a diet in which you only need to eat 200 g of low-fat cottage cheese and 2 bananas throughout the day.

To prepare a healthy dish, you need to mash the banana with a fork and rub the cottage cheese through a sieve. The resulting ingredients should be mixed, divided into portions and eaten throughout the day. This diet will allow you to quickly get rid of several kilograms, as well as saturate your body with useful substances. By eating cottage cheese with banana throughout the day, a person will not experience hunger, if the interval between food breaks is observed at 2-3 hours.

Pancakes with bananas

Pancakes with banana and chocolate will become a complete, and most importantly, incredibly tasty breakfast or afternoon snack not only for kids, but for the whole family. To prepare 4 servings of pancakes you will need:

  • Three medium sized bananas.
  • Fresh zest of one orange.
  • One tablespoon of banana syrup. If you can't find syrup in the store, prepare it yourself: chop a quarter of a banana and mash it with sugar until smooth.
  • One tablespoon of cocoa powder.
  • Two teaspoons of starch.
  • 40 grams of milk chocolate.
  • 20 grams of butter.

To prepare the dough you will need:

  • One hundred grams of premium wheat flour.
  • One tablespoon of cocoa.
  • One chicken egg.
  • Two hundred grams of milk.

Peel the bananas and cut them into small cubes. Pass the lemon zest through a meat grinder, mix it with banana syrup and chopped bananas. Place them in a cool place, preferably on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator, for about 20 minutes.

In a clean, small enamel container, mix cocoa powder with milk. Grate the milk chocolate and add to the milk. Heat the container over low heat, constantly stirring the milk all the time. After a few minutes, remove the mixture from the heat.

To prepare the dough, mix flour and cocoa powder, then sift them through a sieve into a fairly deep bowl. Make a small depression in the middle of the resulting slide, place butter and eggs in it. Gradually add milk, stirring the dough so that there are no lumps. After the dough acquires a homogeneous structure, you can begin baking pancakes.

Place the prepared pancake on a clean surface, place pre-prepared bananas on it in a thin, even layer, and roll the pancake into an envelope or roll. Place pancakes on serving plates. One serving usually includes three pancakes. Pour over the chocolate sauce and serve the banana and chocolate pancakes.

Harm of bananas

Bananas can not only be beneficial, but also harmful.

There are certain diseases for which bananas should not be consumed, including:

  • IBS.
  • Diabetes.
  • Thrombophlebitis.
  • Increased blood viscosity.

Obese people should not get too carried away with bananas, as these fruits have a fairly high sugar content.

Although bananas very rarely provoke allergic reactions, allergy sufferers should also not consume them in very large quantities. In addition, the calorie content of bananas, despite all their advantages, remains quite high. Therefore, people with excess body weight need to observe moderation in consuming these fruits.

You should not eat unripe fruits, as they contain a high content of starch, which is difficult for the digestive system to process. As a result, a person will experience symptoms of bloating, and the processes of fermentation and gas formation in the intestines will intensify. Therefore, if unripe fruits were purchased, you need to wait until they ripen. Over time, the starch will turn into sugar.

As a rule, fruits lying on store shelves are treated with chemicals. For this purpose, phenols E230, E231 and E232 can be used. They are used to keep food fresh for as long as possible. When entering the body in high doses, these chemicals can provoke various diseases, including oncology. Therefore, all fruits must be washed thoroughly before eating them.

This product should not be offered to very young children. Some doctors recommend refraining from introducing bananas into a child's diet for up to a year. This recommendation is based on the fact that eating a banana can cause bloating, upset bowel movements and diarrhea. Banana is an overseas fruit, which means that if the child’s digestive system is imperfect, it can provoke allergic reactions. Moreover, bananas are high in vitamin K. Its excess in a child’s body can lead to the development of hemolytic anemia and jaundice.

In many ways, the harm that bananas can cause depends on the method of storing and transporting the fruit. All bananas are brought to Russia unripe, and they become ripe in warehouses. To do this, they are fumigated with ethylene. This gas allows the fruit to ripen faster, become softer and sweeter. The bananas are then treated with chemicals containing phenol. This makes it possible to increase the shelf life of already yellowed fruits. Phenol is extremely toxic to the human body; even a small ingestion of it can trigger the development of cancer. Therefore, before you start peeling a banana, you need to wash it thoroughly.

People suffering from irritable bowel syndrome should not eat bananas. These fruits can further intensify unpleasant symptoms. Doctors do not allow patients who have had heart attacks, strokes, or thrombophlebitis to eat bananas. This is explained by the fact that bananas help increase blood viscosity.

Unripe bananas are harmful even to healthy people. They contain a lot of starch and have an unpleasant taste and smell. Such bananas will irritate the intestines and harm digestion.

Banana split

If your baby is already confident enough to use a fork on his own, prepare him an interesting and very tasty dish - a banana split. This dish is another prime example of what to do with bananas. To prepare two servings you will need:

  • One medium sized banana.
  • One hundred grams of low-fat cottage cheese.
  • One hundred grams of any cut fruit. Do not use citrus fruits, as they can lead to the development of an allergic reaction in the baby.
  • Whipped cream – ready-made ones sold in stores are great.

Despite the rather exotic name, preparing a banana split is quite simple. Place a small amount of flour on a plate, cut the banana into slices about one centimeter thick, dip them in the flour and place them in a preheated frying pan. Please note that the frying pan should only be lightly greased with oil - there is no need for excess oil. Fry the banana slices for about one and a half to two minutes, periodically turning them from one side to the other.

Add a small amount of milk to the cottage cheese and mix thoroughly with a fork or blender. Take a beautiful baby plate and place fried banana slices in the middle in a pyramid. Place the cottage cheese around the banana slide, decorate the entire structure with whipped cream and pieces of pre-cut fruit. Dessert is ready!
