What to expect from your first consultation with a proctologist

The first appointment is a consultation and visual examination. The doctor collects anamnesis and reads the medical documentation. The examination can be carried out on a couch or in a special chair. The doctor may perform a digital examination of the rectum. It can be performed after anesthesia with ointment or gel, but this is only required in 5% of cases, because all manipulations are absolutely painless. During a digital examination, the condition of the skin in the anal area, mucous membrane, sphincter contractility, and whether there are hemorrhoids or other neoplasms are assessed.

The specialist begins the appointment with a conversation, studying the medical history and tests (if available). But the matter is not limited to conversations alone - the doctor conducts a visual examination of the perineum and anus, as well as a digital examination. If necessary, anoscopy and sigmoidoscopy are performed, for which special devices are used.

It has been unequivocally confirmed: by changing eating habits, establishing a balance in food and water consumption, a person transforms his own life. It is not advisable to consume “food waste”: flour, confectionery, fried, canned food. Products with many “E” additives in the product composition are designed to satisfy the taste. Real cleansing of the body begins with proper nutrition.

With desire, patience, and perseverance, absolutely all harmful products can be replaced. There are no irreplaceables. Nature did not create waffles and chocolates. It’s easy to swap your favorite sweets for dried fruits and nuts. For example, dates are sweeter than all the sweets combined and are extremely beneficial. And what savings! The whole difficulty is in habits. They are different, accumulated throughout life. Habits that are difficult to change and ingrained are especially difficult to overcome. But what is planned is possible: you will need patience, will, and motivation for a specific goal.

You will need to comply with the drinking regime. For a particular person, the amount of fluid required is individual, depending on weight. The average value is 2 liters of clean drinking water.

How to cleanse the rectum

The cleansing method is chosen in accordance with the state of health. This can be a mechanical method using an enema or microenema, as well as taking laxatives.

Enema cleansing

In the absence of contraindications (no acute pain, no bleeding), cleansing is carried out with a water enema. If the appointment is scheduled for the first half of the day, then two cleansing enemas are done the night before:

  • Take Esmarch's mug - it resembles an ordinary rubber heating pad, at the bottom of which is attached a hose (1.5 m) with a plastic tip and tap.
  • Fill it with two liters of warm (about 36.6°C) drinking water.
  • Lubricate the clean tip with Vaseline.
  • Carefully insert it into the anus while kneeling or lying on your right side (if you can’t do it yourself, then ask your loved ones for help).
  • Open the faucet.
  • Relax your stomach so that water can easily fill your intestines.
  • Try to hold the water for about 10 minutes, and then empty your bowels if you have a strong urge.

Keep the interval between enemas from 15 minutes to half an hour.

In the morning, two hours before the visit, you need to do another similar enema.

Microenema cleansing

In many cases, when preparing for a visit to a proctologist, you can use a mild product called Microlax (sold in pharmacies without a prescription). It is also used by pregnant women, since regular enemas are undesirable.

Microlax can be used from the age of one year, as well as by pregnant women. The contents of the capsules (5 ml) soften stool and increase the volume of fluid in the intestines.

All that is required is to squeeze the gel from the tube into the rectum and wait 15 minutes for the product to take effect.

Cleansing using the laxative drug Fortrans

The amount of powder used depends on the person's weight. One sachet is designed for 20 kg of patient weight. It is diluted in one liter of water. Adult patients are most often prescribed three to four sachets.

It is usually recommended to start cleansing the day before your appointment, since the product acts individually - as a rule, cleansing begins after 2-3 hours and ends after six hours, but it can take much longer.

You should drink 250 ml of the solution every hour until everything is drunk.

Toxins, waste and other toxic substances in the body

Toxic substances are formed in the body and are designated by different names. They enter from the outside: through food, water, air. When the volume of toxins becomes large, diseases and disturbances in normal functioning appear. Allergic reactions are a clear indication of slagging (comparable to shouting: “Help, please!”). You should not eat foods that cause gas formation in the intestines and flatulence: legumes, potatoes, cabbage, carbonated drinks, black and whole grain bread. It is necessary to completely eliminate alcohol, because it has a bad effect on the condition of the gastrointestinal tract.

On the day of your appointment, you should not eat for several hours before the proctological examination. If you go to the doctor in the first half of the day, it is better not to eat in the evening. If the reception is late in the evening, a light breakfast is allowed. You can drink water, fruit juices without sugar and pulp until your appointment.

If the reception takes place in the first half of the day, then there is no need to have breakfast. If in the second case and the patient cannot remain without food for a long time, then you can allow yourself a light breakfast of foods that do not cause gas formation.

It is recommended to take slippers, a diaper and toilet paper with you.

Blends of natural ingredients

Cleansing is possible using natural products. Try making a tasty, healthy mixture: cleaning will be quite enjoyable. To prepare the mixture you need the following products:

  • Dried fruits – 300 g (raisins, prunes, dried apricots).
  • Rose hip syrup.
  • Senna grass, dried (packaging).

To grind the dried fruits into a homogeneous mass, use a blender. Add syrup and herbs. It turns out tasty and healthy. Take the mix in the morning, 1 teaspoon before meals, for three days.

Colon cleansing mixture

The first step is to cleanse the intestines. Prepare a laxative mixture of dried fruits:

  • Dried apricots.
  • Figs
  • Prunes.

Natural honey and glycerin are added to taste. Store in the refrigerator, consuming 1 teaspoon on an empty stomach.

Liver cleansing

The liver requires due attention: the main organ of cleansing the body of waste and toxins. This is a patient organ. When the liver is sick, there is a clear sign that treatment is required. A large number of methods are proposed: labor-intensive ones - putting a heating pad on the area of ​​the right hypochondrium, drinking vegetable oil on an empty stomach (not everyone can tolerate its taste), simpler ones - drinking herbal drinks.

Herbs used for preparation are: chamomile, rose hips, licorice, mint, plantain, chicory and others.

It’s easy to prepare the infusion: 500 ml of boiling water for 4 tablespoons of the mixture, brew in a thermos. Drink a glass in the morning and evening. Has a soft, gentle cleansing effect.

What methods can be used to cleanse the body?

  1. Say goodbye to excess liquid.
    You can understand that the body needs this by the swelling of your legs in the evening, and by the morning the same phenomenon is observed in the lower eyelids. If the reason for this is not renal failure, then you can try drinking diuretics, or even better, herbal infusions with horsetail, birch buds, bearberry, chicory root, fennel, and juniper. The same effect can be achieved with cucumbers and tomatoes, watermelon, and any juicy fruits and berries. It is even more useful to use regular non-carbonated water, green tea with ginger and lemon and other drinks to obtain a diuretic effect.
  2. The recipe for diuretic water is very simple. It is enough to squeeze lemon juice into a glass of water and drink it in the morning before meals. The ginger drink needs to be boiled and left for several hours so that the root releases all the beneficial substances it contains. You can also add lemon juice to it before use.

  3. Cleansing the intestines.
    Normal metabolism can be judged by regular bowel movements. Constipation leads to excess weight and some serious diseases. Colon cleansing has the same contraindications as removing excess fluid, plus intestinal diseases and heart disease.
  4. We remove toxins from the body.
    Activated carbon can be considered the best antioxidant. It is no coincidence that it is prescribed for poisoning or food allergies. Being an absorbent, activated carbon takes with it and removes waste, toxins, undigested food residues in the intestines, breakdown products of ethyl alcohol, nicotine and other harmful substances. You need to take activated carbon at the rate of 1 tablet per 10 kg of weight, swallow one tablet on an empty stomach and drink plenty of water. The course is as follows: 10 days of admission, 10 rest and again 10 days of admission. Taking coal without interruption leads to the removal of vitamins and microelements from the body, without which the functioning of many organs can fail.
  5. Fiber
    is the best broom for the intestines. The most fiber is found in fresh vegetables and fruits, dried fruits, berries, and herbs. Particularly effective in this regard are mixtures of herbs and dried fruits, which not only cleanse the body, but also provide it with vitamins and other beneficial substances.
  6. The mixture is prepared as follows: you need to take 1 pack of senna, a bottle of rosehip syrup, 300 g of raisins, dried apricots and prunes. Grind the dried fruits in a blender or meat grinder and combine with the rest of the ingredients. Mix everything properly. The result is a tasty mass that should be consumed in the morning before meals or at night, washed down with lemon water. The mixture has a mild laxative effect. Time of use: 3 days.

  7. Kefir day.
    During the day you need to eat only kefir, but in any quantity. After one such fasting day, constipation, if any, should go away, and over time, the stool will normalize.
  8. Cleansing with flaxseed.
    This product is rich in fiber, therefore it removes toxins, mucus and food debris from the intestines, like a brush. Flaxseed is especially beneficial when combined with natural unsweetened yogurt. For three weeks, you need to take the drink according to the following scheme: 1st week - 100 ml of yogurt plus a spoonful of seeds, 2nd week - add another spoonful of seeds, 3rd week - plus another 50 ml of yogurt and a spoonful of seeds.
  9. A few important recommendations:
      if you decide to start cleansing the body, minimize the consumption of flour, sweets and fatty foods;
  10. meals should be small and frequent, at least 6 times a day;
