5 good reasons and 3 easy recipes that will make you love whole grain bread even more

The benefits of diet bread

One of the main advantages is their high carbohydrate content, while homemade diet breads are slowly digested by the body, which allows you to maintain a feeling of fullness for a long time. Thanks to the special processing of the grains from which the bread is made, they retain a large amount of useful microelements, vitamins, dietary fiber and minerals. They are also rich in fiber, which normalizes the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract and improves skin and hair.

You should know that one loaf of bread contains the daily requirement of fiber for a healthy person. This product also contains protein, which makes it an indispensable product for those who lead an active lifestyle. And thanks to the improvement in metabolism, bread is an ideal product for those who want to lose a couple of kilograms.

However, the benefits of eating bread directly depend on the method of consumption and can either increase or decrease. Therefore, you should eat them systematically.

Harm and contraindications

Like all food products, bread can not only be healthy, but also cause harm to the body. Most often, the usefulness of a product largely depends on its quality. In the case of bread rolls, there is always a chance to purchase an ordinary counterfeit of a certain brand, made in violation of manufacturing technology. At best, using such a “dietary” supplement will not bring the desired result, but there may be more serious consequences. Therefore, you should purchase products only from trusted outlets.

But even a high-quality product has its contraindications. First of all, it is not advisable to eat bread for those who have stomach problems.

You should also observe moderation in their intake. It is advisable to eat no more than 3-4 pieces per day, one at each meal.

And most importantly, they are contraindicated for children, since their stomachs are not yet adapted to heavy food.

Low-calorie bread recipe. Which breads are best for weight loss?

Every person who has been on a diet at least once is well aware that consuming any flour and confectionery products during this period is prohibited. But there are special breads for weight loss that you can eat without fear of weight gain.

Currently, this product is sold both in pharmacies and in hypermarkets in health food departments, and even in regular grocery stores. It is logical to assume that not all breads sold can help in weight loss. And the point here is not only that the calorie content of this food product is close to 100 units, but also that few products of this type meet dietary requirements. That is why not all bread can help you lose weight. But before we talk about which breads are the healthiest for those losing weight, it is necessary to talk about their overall benefits for the body.

The benefits of bread for the body

Despite their high calorie content, bread is a high-carbohydrate product, and a product that takes a long time to be digested by the body. It is for this reason that they not only leave you full for a long time after themselves, but are also useful for weight loss. In addition, by eating at least one loaf of bread every day, you can protect yourself from constipation, and as you know, they are often a companion to many diets. But you shouldn’t eat too much bread when losing weight.

In addition, almost all types of this product are made from whole grains that have undergone special processing. Therefore, they retain much more useful vitamins and minerals than conventional baked goods. At the same time, the benefits of this product will increase or decrease depending on how exactly it is used.

Today, there are various recipes that suggest using this product not only as an independent dish, but also as the main ingredient in the preparation of others. Therefore, when talking about the benefits of bread for weight loss, one should not lose sight of the fact how exactly they will be used and with what products. But, despite these nuances, nutritionists identify three types of weight loss breads that have a better effect on this process than others.

Which breads are best for people losing weight?

The healthiest breads for weight loss are oatmeal, rye and wheat. At the same time, experts in the field of healthy nutrition believe that the most important thing is not what they are prepared from, but how exactly they are prepared. So, the healthiest breads for weight loss should not contain any extra flavorings, dyes, and especially preservatives. Their cooking recipe should be as ascetic as possible and not contain any unnecessary ingredients. Quality breads are made from flour, water and sometimes salt. It is better if it is completely absent.

The most useful product for weight loss is prepared exclusively from coarse cereals and whole grains. The recipe for making such bread is very simple, but it requires a lot of time, because the cereal itself must first be soaked. Crisps made in this way are considered the healthiest and are called extrusion. In any case, you should remember that you shouldn’t eat too many crispbreads when losing weight - a few pieces a day will be enough. Otherwise, you can achieve the opposite effect.

And also, if you want to be sure of the high quality of the product you are purchasing, it is best to buy it in pharmacies or specialized health food departments. But the ideal option would be to prepare weight loss bread yourself, because there is a simple recipe available to every person.

Cooking diet bread at home

So, if you are determined to use this tasty and healthy product for weight loss, then this recipe will help you prepare it yourself and at home. For preparation you will need:

  • oatmeal and rye flour - 1 tbsp each;
  • wheat bran and sunflower seeds – 100 g each;
  • water – 2 tbsp.;
  • flax seed – 20 g (optional).
  • The cooking process itself is very simple. It is necessary to mix all the ingredients in a deep bowl until smooth. They can first be ground into flour, or they can be left in their original form. Then slowly add water until you get a thick paste. At this time, preheat the oven to 200ºC. Spread the resulting paste in an even layer on a lined baking sheet and place in the oven for 10 minutes. Then take it out and cut the layer into pieces. Reduce the temperature to 100ºС and leave the bread in the oven for another hour.

    As you can see, this recipe is not only very simple, but also budget-friendly. And the bread itself turns out tasty, aromatic and crispy. Well, in conclusion, I would like to say that reviews about the use of this product for the purpose of losing weight are mostly positive. However, you should be prepared for the fact that the weight will decrease gradually and little by little. This means that getting rid of extra pounds will not only be tasty, but also safe.

    Dietary bread with bran

    A more complex diet bread recipe includes:

    • 150 grams of oat bran;
    • 60 grams of wheat bran;
    • 250 ml low-fat milk;
    • 2 eggs;
    • 1-3 cloves of garlic;
    • Greens, salt, pepper to taste.

    To prepare such dietary bread at home, you need to pour milk over the bran and let it swell for 20 minutes. Then you can add crushed garlic or finely chopped parsley, basil or dill (to taste) to the mixture.

    After 20 minutes, eggs are driven into the dough, and the whole mass is thoroughly mixed. After a short rest, the dough is placed on a baking sheet covered with parchment and baked for 20-30 minutes. After which the finished dish is cut into pieces.

    Swedish rye bread recipe. Rye bread

    Rye bread is a tasty, pleasant and healthy thin rye cracker that can be an excellent addition to breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It’s convenient to take them with you to nature, work, or on the road as a snack. If you are on a diet, then eating bread is just right. They are prepared quickly and from the simplest ingredients.

    As soon as I tried these breads, I immediately realized - I will no longer buy thin rye bread in the store! Because this recipe makes great delicious bread! And if you also take into account the completely natural and controlled composition, then they have no price at all. By the way, about the price. In stores, breads are relatively expensive, but at home they are quite inexpensive.

    It is also worth adding that thin, crispy rye bread is an excellent addition to the Lenten table.

    I highly recommend using whole grain (whole ground) rye flour, it is much healthier than using regular flour. But, if, of course, you couldn’t find whole grain flour in stores, then use regular rye.

    All the seeds in the composition are the filling of the bread, flavoring and healthy additives. They can be freely changed and there can be a lot of options, a huge space for experimentation. You can, for example, add poppy seeds, coriander or nuts, some spices to taste, and dried herbs. Try it to your heart's content.

    This amount of ingredients in the recipe is enough for two baking sheets of bread, that’s about 30 pieces with an approximate size of 12x4 cm.

    Preparation

    We prepare all the necessary ingredients. I used two types of sesame, light and dark.

    We put all the seeds that are included in the grinder into the grinder: sunflower, pumpkin, flax and sesame seeds.

    The size of the grains that we get when grinding is directly related to the thickness of the future bread. The smaller the grains of seeds, the thinner the dough can be rolled out and, accordingly, the thinner the bread will be. I tried it in different ways and settled on the size as seen in the photo: the particles are about half the size of a sunflower seed, so that the fractions can be felt and have an interesting texture.

    Mix flour, crushed seeds and salt in a large bowl.

    Dissolve honey in warm water (40-60°C), add to a bowl and mix, add sunflower oil and knead into a homogeneous dough. I mix with a spoon first and then work the dough with my hands. If you immediately mix with your hands, the dough sticks to your palms and fingers, which is not very convenient or pleasant. Roll into a ball and put the dough in a bag and leave to rest for half an hour. During this time, the additive seeds will absorb some of the moisture from the dough and it will become denser and easier to work with.

    Next, we form the bread itself. This step is completely creative, there are no restrictions, whatever shape you want for the loaves, do just that. I like even, identical ones, so I do it this way. Divide the dough into two parts and roll out one part on a silicone mat as thin as possible. You can work on baking paper, but it’s more convenient on a mat, trust me. Trim the edges to create a large rectangle over the entire surface of the rug. Then, using the back blunt side of a knife or a metal ruler, divide the dough into loaves of the required size. I make the size approximately 4x12 cm. Place in the oven preheated to 180°C for 17-18 minutes. If your seeds are ground almost into flour and you manage to roll out the dough very thin, then the baking time is reduced to 12-15 minutes. After baking the first part of the dough, do the same with the second.

    Rye bread is ready! You can eat them plain or top them with cream cheese, butter or a slice of cheese. The thing is very tasty! You can make a lot at once, put it in a large container and gradually eat it up, fortunately they have a very long shelf life, they will definitely last for several months. Bon appetit!

    Diet crispbread with flax seeds

    There are also recipes with various additives. In particular, you can use flax seeds, which are also rich in nutrients.

    To prepare, grind 2 tablespoons of flax seeds in a blender. Then add half a glass of buckwheat and whole grain rye flour and 2 tablespoons of wheat flour.

    Add 1 teaspoon of dry yeast, sugar and salt to taste to the dry mixture. Now you can add water, exactly as much as the mixture takes, but no more than 2 glasses.

    After the dough is kneaded until it becomes thick sour cream, it must be allowed to rise and you can start baking.
