Medical fasting: benefits, timing, basic rules and contraindications

Let's do without drugs

— Sergey Borisovich, therapeutic fasting is sometimes called treatment without drugs. This is true?

- Absolutely right, because the body is configured to heal itself. The main thing is to create conditions for him to do this. The body is accustomed to receiving calories from the outside, that is, from food. And the cessation of nutrition leads to the fact that he begins to look for resources within himself. And it consumes the so-called ballast tissue - fatty deposits, tumors, adhesions, cysts. At the same time, all important vital organs are preserved: the brain with the nervous system, the heart with the cardiovascular system, the respiratory, digestive, urinary organs, skin, muscles and bones.

— Are there limits to such fasting?

— The medical literature says that a person can fast for up to forty days. But you need to start with a shorter period so as not to harm your health. For us, this is 7 days of complete fasting (fasting period) and 8 days of recovery. Complete hunger does not imply a refusal of liquid, so our patients drink water and various decoctions that help cleanse the body. Fats begin to break down only after the second day. Therefore, if we want to “get” to them, two days is not enough - weight loss occurs only due to the loss of excess fluid.

— How does therapeutic fasting differ from diets or fasting?

— During therapeutic fasting, no calories enter the human body. A diet is the intake of “narrowly targeted” food. When, for example, a minimum of carbohydrates, proteins or fats is consumed. In our case there is no food at all, only liquid. But fasting must take place under the supervision of doctors - that is why it is called therapeutic.

From sadness to fluttering

— How do patients feel during fasting? For example, when I fasted on my own for three days, for the first two I constantly thought about food, then I “let go” and began to literally flutter.

“Withdrawal” proceeds differently for everyone: for some it is more difficult in the first days, for others, on the contrary, in the second stage of fasting. As for your “flights,” patients admit that after some time they feel cheerful and their thinking becomes productive. The fact is that during fasting the digestive tract rests, and this is accompanied by the release of a large amount of energy. It is used by the body for self-repair and self-healing. In this regard, the functions of internal organs, immune and hormonal status improve.

- Can a starving person feel unwell?

— Everyone’s sensitivity threshold is different, as is their psychological mood. But from experience I can say that optimists cope with hunger more easily. The body, having overcome the crisis at a certain point, begins to produce the substances it needs within itself. For some this happens on the 3-4th day, for others - on the 5-7th.

During a crisis, the patient may have a headache, the heart rate may increase, he may feel hot or cold, and weakness may appear. Or, conversely, irritability and anger, because the body finds itself in a stressful situation, which is why emotions literally rage. In the second stage, nausea is more of a concern because circulating toxins appear in the blood. Therefore, we carry out an additional set of activities - massage, water treatments (pool, sauna), body wraps, enemas. We add choleretic preparations and antiparasitic medications.

To whom "stop"

— For what illnesses can you stop eating for a while?

— Under medical supervision, fasting has a positive effect in primary obesity associated with excess food intake, hypertension, diseases of the joints (osteochondrosis, arthritis), nervous system (migraine, vegetative-vascular dystonia), bronchial asthma, skin diseases (neurodermatitis), allergies, benign neoplasms in gynecology (fibroids decrease in size). Hunger can help remove parasites from the body, that is, it destroys everything unnecessary. Therefore, even for relatively healthy people, regular fasting is beneficial and is a good preventive measure.

— I read on the Internet that infertility can also be treated by starvation.

- Yes, we have patients who could not get pregnant. And now former infertile ladies are raising babies.

- But there are also contraindications?

— You cannot fast if you have diabetes mellitus type 1 (insulin-dependent), if you are exhausted, we determine it by calculating the body mass index. We don't take people who are too thin. It is forbidden to fast in case of malignant tumors, thyrotoxicosis, glomerulonephritis (kidney disease), liver cirrhosis, viral hepatitis. And also at the time of exacerbation of chronic pathology (for example, chronic gastritis, bronchitis, etc.).

— What if a person is forbidden to starve, but he really wants to?

— We require medical records from patients and before fasting we conduct a clinical and biochemical analysis of blood, urine, ultrasound of internal organs, and ECG. If there are contraindications, but a person wants to lose a little weight, then we take him too. But we no longer plant them on complete starvation, but with “feeding”.

— How many kilograms can you lose in two weeks?

— Weight loss ranges from 5 to 12 kilograms (or up to 20% of total body weight). One patient even lost 13.5 kilograms. By the way, men lose weight faster and have a faster metabolism. And more often women who are braver come. You can fast from the age of 16-18 and until the age of 70. Although the upper threshold is determined individually.

- How can you not gain back the lost kilograms?

— It depends on how much you follow the recommendations. We teach you how to count calories, eliminate unhealthy foods from your diet, that is, we completely change your usual lifestyle. The way out of hunger is also quite tough.

Hunger for health

Those who do not dare to undertake a two-week feat can do a 3-day fast. It will be less “painful”, but also effective. In three days, the body will get rid of fluid, due to which swelling and 3-4 kilograms will go away. Plus the intestines will be cleansed.

“It is advisable to spend fasting days from Friday to Sunday,” says nutritionist Sergei Kozlov. - During these three days you do not eat anything, drink only water and various decoctions. For example, rosehip decoction, pharmacy choleretic collection and diuretic collection (for people with high blood pressure). It is useful to do a couple of cleansing enemas and a couple of back massage sessions. Contrast showers and physical activity are good.

On the fourth day, when you start eating, it is better to exclude animal proteins and fats. It is better to overcome hunger on a plant-based diet. It is advisable not to salt food. Add animal products on the 7-8th day. As a rule, three fasting days smoothly flow into a fasting and recovery week.

Avoid:

- fried potatoes (occasional intake, for example once every 2 weeks, will pass without consequences);

- sausages, sausages - they have a lot of hidden fats;

- all colored and sweet carbonated drinks;

- Salty foods should be avoided by hypertensive patients.

The essence of fasting

Cleansing the body of toxins, waste, tissues affected by diseases, as well as restructuring the metabolism in accordance with basic, natural programs. That is, the rejection of vicious, compensatory patterns of functioning of various organs and systems, acquired in the process of diseases and improper lifestyles, primarily the digestive, lymphatic, hematopoietic, endocrine and immune.

Proper fasting is a wonderful reboot of the body, a time for general cleaning and preventative adjustments.

Features and benefits of therapeutic fasting

Fasting is a natural system of dietary restriction. It is often used as an additional or primary therapy in the treatment of a sick person.

During therapeutic fasting, the stages of complete abstinence from food and periods of cleansing are combined. Fasting itself can last from 1-3 days to 21 .

These are not just refusals to eat, but rather complex procedures for ridding the body of excess toxic substances. These include enemas, massages and various breathing exercises.

The essence of the healing method is that during fasting the body begins to use additional reserves of vitality and energy, which it uses to restore and cleanse the body of toxic products.

The latter cause a variety of pathological changes, the most common being cellulite. Research has proven many times that using this method, a person gets rid of excess body weight.

Since toxins begin to be actively removed from the body and it is fueled by its own destroyed fat cells. After the destruction of the affected molecules and cells, the formation of new tissue, cellular and molecular layers begins.

Therefore, this is not only a restorative, but also a renewing process of all organs.

Therapeutic fasting is very useful for those who suffer from endotoxicosis. Thanks to him, healing occurs naturally.

In this case, a person must strictly adhere to certain rules and learn to fully manage the auxiliary forces. The technique is based on an understanding of a healthy lifestyle.

Instant effect after fasting

A craving for simple and healthy food, the return of bright taste sensations, a renewal of feelings, and most importantly, the heart opens: a desire to explore the world appears, an inner joy awakens that people did not experience even in their youth. Healing from various diseases often occurs. A stable healing effect, up to the disappearance of “incurable” chronic diseases, is observed after six months to a year of regular fasting and proper nutrition.

A book is not enough to describe the processes occurring in the body during fasting. This article is for informational purposes only. Therefore, we will only emphasize once again: the purpose of fasting is to cleanse and heal the body. And in this capacity, healing fasting has no competitors. The experience of hundreds of famous researchers, scientists and book authors, including the personal experience of Goltis, testify: with the help of fasting, people were consciously cured of fatal diseases. They were cured after the doctors gave up and sent them home to die, promising several weeks or months of life.

Types of fasting

Before starting this process, it is important to understand not only the purpose for which it will be carried out, but also what the difference is between treated hunger, fasting, diet, etc.

Medicinal

This type involves a complete refusal of any food or food and liquid (dry) for recovery. Throughout the entire period, a person does not eat, in this way cleansing the body and triggering the beginning of positive changes. The so-called dosed fasting is practiced to treat various diseases. Therapeutic fasting can be practiced at home, periodically consulting with a doctor.

Medical

This process is similar to therapeutic fasting, but it is carried out not at home, but in specialized medical institutions under the supervision of doctors. In the process of abstaining from food, a person also undergoes additional procedures: massage, water procedures, physiotherapy, etc. Doctors prescribe medical fasting if there are clear indications. Sometimes forced fasting is practiced due to certain pathologies and diseases.

Fast

Religious fasting differs from fasting, since modern people who observe it refuse only certain types of foods. However, previously fasting included periods of fasting, which some believers observe for several days even now. Fasting is aimed primarily at spiritual self-improvement. But people who observe it must also take care of breaking fast correctly so as not to harm the body.

Diet

This concept can be associated with both medicine and weight loss. This is a certain diet in which the consumption of certain types of foods is prohibited. Some diets are aimed at improving health (for example, after surgery), others are aimed at active weight loss (the total calorie content of food consumed per day is reduced). Sometimes people with chronic illnesses have to stick to a diet for life. The diet may include short periods of fasting on tea, etc.

Fasting with the consumption of certain types of foods

For certain types of hunger, certain foods are allowed to be consumed. In particular, fasting with fruit juices is practiced; on honey; with vegetable juices; with fruits, etc. There is also the so-called physically beneficial fasting, an adherent of which is the Soviet biologist Arakelyan, and other types of hunger.

A prerequisite for fasting

Awareness of the goals of refusing food, optimism and an open heart. Loss of calm, fear of death, disruption of the physical functions of the body can turn therapeutic fasting into a hunger strike and destroy health.

The only correct motivation is cleansing the body and soul. This needs to be clearly understood.

Fasting requires proper preparation: entry and exit. For example, both before and after a three-day fast (on water), it is recommended to follow a certain diet for three days (more on this below).

Goltis

Many people, having read books on fasting, begin to treat the process without due caution. Remember, any fasting is a very serious tool for cleansing the body and soul. Having made a mistake, a person can undermine his health, especially if he allows fear into himself. Therefore, I do not recommend fasting for more than 7 days on water without the supervision of a fasting specialist or doctors. Another case is if you were left without food by force, for example, lost in the mountains or forest. As a survival specialist, I can say with confidence that any untrained person can maintain life, the ability to move and perform simple work, even after two weeks without food. You just need to rely on the will of the Creator and perceive forced fasting as a temporary test. You need to be grateful for this opportunity, pray, and see in what happened a lesson from above that you can do.

Why are people starving?

There are many reasons that encourage people to give up food for a certain period. Fasting is practiced for medicinal purposes, to cleanse the body, and for weight loss.

. But the essence of the process itself invariably remains one thing: in the process of refusing food, the body is rebuilt to function in new conditions.

If a person decides to give up food for a while and follows all the rules and practices complete or intermittent fasting, in this way he can solve many health problems. With the right approach to observing hunger, you can achieve the following results:

  • improve overall well-being;
  • look younger and fresher - this method is used to rejuvenate and improve the condition of skin and hair;
  • stimulate brain function;
  • lose weight and improve your figure;
  • get rid of bad habits - quit smoking, drinking alcohol;
  • switch to a healthier diet after fasting and overcome food addiction;
  • cleanse the intestines and the body as a whole;
  • improve laboratory parameters by reducing cholesterol and sugar levels;
  • lower blood pressure and improve the condition of blood vessels, etc.

All these effects, of course, should be attributed to the benefits of the process of giving up food.

In the first stage, energy is obtained from glucose stored in the liver and muscles

Every person has faced such fasting. To do this, it is enough not to eat for half a day or to train at the limit of strength. No changes in the body, except for an increasing feeling of hunger, occur at this stage.

When all glucose reserves are used up and no food is supplied, a new scheme for obtaining energy (endogenous nutrition) is launched: the body begins to extract nutrients and energy from sick and damaged cells. It is this second stage that is most important in fasting and allows you to get rid of toxins, diseased cells, parasites, harmful bacteria and viruses.

During the second stage of wet fasting, you may experience weakness, drowsiness, headache, pain in the joints and organs, dizziness, nausea, rapid heartbeat; on dry - heat in the body. Depending on the state of health and the type of fasting, this stage can last from three to thirty or more days. This is how the body can have enough energy for a long time from the breakdown products of metabolism and accumulated toxins and poisons.

At the same time, the body begins to cleanse itself of accumulated waste and toxins over many years, which, like toxic waste, were stored in the connective tissues of the body, on the intestinal walls, and in fatty deposits.

The effect of therapeutic fasting on the body

Treatment through short-term or long-term fasting is being actively studied by specialists. Depending on the timing of therapy, certain changes are observed in the body:

  • 1-2 days. A period of food excitation and apoptosis begins. The body tries with all its might to find sources of energy, absorbing everything around it. Not only fat, but also connective and muscle tissue is broken down. All harmful and unnecessary substances leave the intestines.
  • 3-4 days. Increasing acidosis. Tissues are split with redoubled force. The autolysis process starts - pathogenic bacteria, cancer cells, free radicals are eliminated, and stagnant liquid is released. At this stage, you should be as careful as possible, since homotoxicosis is possible, which implies an increase in the concentration of harmful breakdown products in the blood. At this time period, it is important to act gently, without shocking the body, otherwise there is a chance of ending up in the hospital (this applies to people who refuse not only food, but water).
  • 7-10 days. An adaptation period begins when the body is completely rebuilt and reacts normally to the lack of food. At this stage, dry fasting ends. If you feel well, continued water intake is allowed. Mechanisms of intracellular rejuvenation are launched.
  • 14-21 days. It is at this stage that many followers of fasting note getting rid of serious diseases and visceral fat, which to date has no scientific basis.

The third stage comes when everything unnecessary and ballast in the body has already been “burnt”

And the body has to get energy by eating healthy cells in those body systems that have little effect on survival as a whole. At this stage, muscle mass begins to decrease, for example. We do not recommend taking it to this stage!

The last stage is destructive.

In this case, vital tissues and organs begin to be thrown into the firebox. As a result, the person dies. The exception is observed among highly spiritual people who simply no longer need food.

Therapeutic fasting at home

The benefits of intermittent fasting have been known for quite some time. Even our distant ancestors observed strict fasting several times a year, explaining this as spiritual practices, but in fact simply cleansing the body of toxins and waste that accumulated there from the constant absorption of junk food. Today, scientists have advanced much further, for example, in 2021, a Japanese biology professor named Yoshinori Ohsumi explained the mechanism of healing fasting, for which he received a Nobel Prize.

There is a special term - autophagy, which literally translated from Greek means “self-eating”. In essence, the process is the elimination, removal of unnecessary (harmful) cells from the body during a stressful situation (fasting).

Why should you fast?

Feelings of satiety or hunger are controlled by a small area in the human brain called the hypothalamus. This is where the ventrolateral hypothalamic nucleus, simply called the hunger center, is located. Its main task is to monitor the body's satiety by studying nerve impulses from the intestines and stomach, as well as blood glucose levels. If sugar drops to a certain level, an alarm goes off and the adrenal glands begin to intensively decompose glycogen, ensuring high-quality brain function.

In theory, after the sugar level drops to a certain level, the process can stop, after which the body is quite capable of falling into a coma, but this usually does not happen. Instead, our body begins to biosynthesize glucose, using its own reserves as fuel - glycerol from fat deposits and amino acids from their muscles.

This begins the process of ketosis, in which fats are broken down, providing energy to fuel the brain and the whole body. The process produces ketones, which can fuel the main “computer” by about thirty percent better than regular glucose. Thus, the fat melts, and the harmful substances that have accumulated in it are removed without harm.

Benefit

In essence, therapeutic fasting is a kind of repair for our body. Moreover, there are much more useful aspects than risks:

  • With a properly organized process, weight loss occurs quite quickly, while the skin and muscles do not sag.
  • Metabolic processes are accelerated, toxins and impurities are eliminated, therefore the condition of hair, nails and skin improves.
  • It is much easier to endure water fasting than limiting yourself to diets. The body begins to use internal reserves, due to which the feeling of hunger is dulled.
  • Internal organs and systems are cleansed, restored, and a kind of reboot occurs.

Harm

Healthy people can use therapeutic fasting without any fear, especially when it comes to short periods of abstinence from food. However, before starting the process, you should visit a doctor, otherwise hunger can cause serious damage to your health. After all, until a certain point, many people do not even know about the diseases lurking in the body. In addition, even quite healthy children and very elderly people can be seriously harmed by therapeutic fasting.

  • In the process, the level of vitamins sharply decreases, and they will not be restored earlier than in a few months.
  • The concentration of uric acid in the blood increases, which often leads to the formation of kidney stones or activation of gouty phenomena.
  • If the autophagy process is too long and uncontrolled, the body may refuse to digest food, which can lead to serious consequences, including eating insanity, which is a mental disorder.

Contraindications

There are a number of contraindications that should be taken into account before you start losing weight using autophagy:

  • Hemoblastoses and oncological problems in the body.
  • Unidentified diseases.
  • Endocrine diseases.
  • Pulmonary tuberculosis.
  • Liver or kidney failure.
  • Hepatitis of any type, liver cirrhosis.
  • Inflammatory processes in the body, increased body temperature.
  • Cardiovascular pathologies.
  • Parasitic or infectious lesions.
  • Senile or childhood age.
  • Thrombosis or thrombophlebitis, any diseases of the circulatory system.
  • Anorexia.
  • Pregnancy and lactation period.
  • Diabetes.
  • Bronchiectasis.

In addition, therapeutic fasting should be used with great caution by those suffering from urolithiasis or cholelithiasis, ulcers, gout, anemia, and varicose veins.

Fasting consists of three stages: entry-fasting-exit

Entrance

The entrance to fasting is a gradual rejection of heavy, difficult-to-digest and downright unhealthy foods (canned food, pasta, fried potatoes and meat, cakes...) in favor of healthy and easily digestible foods (fresh vegetables and fruits). It is recommended that the entry time be the same as the fasting itself. If you are planning a one-day fast on water, it is better to “sit” on a fruit and vegetable diet for a day before it. If you plan to go three days without food, the transition from meat/potatoes/porridge to fruit can be extended over the same period. It is important to remember that entering a fast correctly helps increase the effectiveness of the cleanse, but is not mandatory.

Starvation

As already mentioned - a voluntary refusal of food (and sometimes water) for a day or more in order to cleanse the body and soul. During this time, you can live an ordinary life. But it is important to remember that being in nature, among pleasant people, contemplating the beauty of the world, bright thoughts, positive emotions, prayers help to tune the body and soul into a cleansing mode. Here you need to be honest with yourself. Some people, due to their acquired qualities, can usefully fast anywhere, including in the city. For others, you need a change of scenery - to go to a beautiful place, at least to a village. If you need to leave the city, change your social circle, give yourself this gift.

Exit

Coming out of fasting is the most important stage, during which the cleansing processes continue/complete, and the body’s metabolism adapts to familiar or new eating patterns. With long periods of fasting (more than 7 days), a gradual correct exit becomes vitally important, much more important than the fasting itself. Since the wrong way out can not only negate the results achieved during the fasting process, but also lead to death. Therefore, the duration of the fast should at least be equal to, or better yet, exceed the duration of the fast itself.

Therapeutic fasting: all about its healing power

Prepared by: MedWeb

The main component of our full health and longevity, in addition to the skills of mental and energetic self-regulation, in addition to the habit of motor switching and an active lifestyle, is also proper, rational nutrition.

fasting, therapeutic nutrition, obesity

For example, the diet of our ancestors was healthier - let us remember the obligatory fasting for believers, which today we would call a kind of fasting days.

Various scientifically developed diets, as well as therapeutic fasting, which is becoming increasingly popular (not only because of the wild rise in food prices), will be discussed in this chapter.

A little excursion into history

The method of therapeutic fasting is associated with the names of P. Brag, G. Shelton, and in our country, first of all, with the name of Professor Yu. S. Nikolaev.

However, with all due respect to these illustrious names, and especially to Yu.S. Nikolaev, it is impossible not to emphasize that treatment with hunger is as old as earthly civilization. It may even be one of the oldest methods of treatment.

Short-term courses of complete fasting were practiced by the ancient Egyptian priests of the god Ra. But in Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome there were already long (up to 40 days) abstinence from food, with cleansing of the body and mandatory physical exercise. The famous Pythagoras and his students also used them (the philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras was one of the first champions of the ancient Olympic Games in fist fighting!). Plato, Socrates, and Plutarch used therapeutic fasting. And, of course, the “father of medicine” Hippocrates. And in the Middle Ages - Abu Ali Ibn Sina (Avicenna).

In our domestic medicine, the ideas of therapeutic fasting appeared in the 18th century. Thus, Moscow University professor Pyotr Velyaminov said that people should “make a truce with their stomach.” You can also name such professors as I.T. Spassky and JI.A. Struve, who popularized the fasting treatment method. Although these ideas received scientific substantiation only in our time, and primarily in the works of Yu.S. Nikolaev.

A short excursion to the clinic

The author of these lines has been practicing therapeutic fasting for more than 15 years in a hospital setting, or, to be precise, conducting courses of fasting-dietary therapy.

I remember an incident more than 20 years ago.

The patient was brought to the department of neuroses and borderline conditions due to irritability, tearfulness, persistent sleep disturbances, allergies, and also sexual problems.

Upon examination, some strange pathological elements were found on the skin. It turns out that he has already visited more than one dermatologist, taking away the diagnosis from each, but not receiving relief.

The patient is 55 years old. Blood pressure remains high. And memory fails more and more often. What is this – sclerosis?

When asked to talk about his diet, the patient immediately admits: “Well, I like to eat spicy food, and especially lard with horseradish and mustard. You run through the day, you get exhausted. And in the evening you’ll sit down... And you’ll also take a glass or two of vodka. Not without it. To relieve stress."

Yes, before us is a man who, day after day, commits outrages on his body. The biggest enemy of your health. Despite a higher technical education, he does not even have the basic skills of caring for a “machine” millions of times more complex than those that he is so well versed in in his production.

Psychiatric colleagues referred this patient to our department with a diagnosis of “Neurasthenia with central atherosclerosis.” And we needed to determine how to help him. It was possible, of course, to start stuffing him with pills, powders, mixtures, and torturing him with injections (as specialists of other profiles had already done). You could try to “pat him on the head” during hypnotherapy sessions. But what will be achieved by this? Well, he'll calm down a little. Well, it will get stronger a little. But the body, this unit clogged with toxins, will continue to malfunction.

I decide to offer him something that is not quite what he expected when he was trying to get treatment in the psychotherapeutic department. And such patients usually rely on hypnosis. Some people (those who are more well-read) go for autogenic training. And also - for baths, electrosleep, for miracle drugs...

“What are you really?!” – the patient was scared. “I’m already thin, and you want to starve me!”

I had to talk in detail about the method of dosed fasting and explain the need to agree to its use.

Fortunately, the patient soon believed and began to trust me. Luckily for him.

21 days of complete abstinence from food, with bowel cleansing (on the day of preparation for the start of fasting - a saline laxative, and then enemas), morning shower, massage, physical therapy and psychotherapeutic sessions, evening baths. And of course, 1.5 - 2 liters of liquid per day (boiled water, Borjomi, rosehip decoction). Then another 21 days of a specially designed restorative diet, which first includes fruit and vegetable juices, then pureed vegetables and fruits in the form of puree, and then in their natural form; fermented milk products, honey, nuts, some medicinal herbs, vinaigrettes, crackers, later - bread, with the obligatory exclusion of meat and fish dishes, and in the first half of the recovery period, with the exclusion of salt.

And here before us is a completely different, clearly younger man. Blood pressure stabilized to normal levels, skin pathology disappeared. And where did his irritability, tearfulness, and heartache go? Where has “sclerosis” gone? Before us is an active, cheerful, energetic person. He even quit smoking on the third day of fasting. (However, all our patients, when abstaining from food, as a rule, voluntarily gave up tobacco, noting the disappearance of the need for it already on the 3rd or 4th day of abstaining from food).

This patient subsequently did not turn to therapists for many years and worked successfully for another fifteen years. For a long time he did not have any sexual problems. Well, perhaps with his wife, who began to be jealous of him (and it seems not without reason).

It is only necessary to emphasize that in all subsequent years he adhered to a special diet developed for him and regularly practiced “fasting days.”

Over the years of work in this department, many dozens of patients have completed fasting and dietary therapy courses under my supervision. And with the correct and clearly defined indications for this method of treatment, success has always been evident.

However, do not understand me as if I want to say: “Here is a cure for all diseases, here is a panacea!” No and no! Although the Swiss doctor Berthollet asserted: “The fact that hunger cannot cure, nothing can cure!”

What diseases does fasting cure?

The range of them is so wide that it is easier to list those diseases for which fasting-dietary therapy is not used. These are many acute surgical diseases (no one will treat a strangulated hernia or volvulus with hunger), but acute pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) is treated with hunger!

Therapeutic fasting is not used for acute stages of tuberculosis, for cirrhosis of the liver and kidneys, for many organic lesions of the central nervous system and for high degrees of hyperthyroidism (dysfunction of the thyroid gland), as well as for tumor diseases. Although there are already works showing that dosed fasting sometimes gives positive results in some (including malignant) tumors of internal organs.

Fasting should not be used for nursing mothers. It is not recommended for feeble-minded and mentally ill patients with whom contact cannot be achieved, as well as in cases of extreme exhaustion of patients.

What is the power of hunger?

With complete fasting and cleansing of the body, not only wastes and toxins are removed from it, but its overall reactivity (stability) also increases, which is achieved by the maximum mobilization of all its protective forces. Excess fats and carbohydrates begin to break down first. If pathologically altered tissues disintegrate, the entire body is flooded with biogenic stimulants. And with dosed fasting, the process of tissue rejuvenation occurs.

However, we will immediately warn the “hot” readers: long courses of therapeutic fasting can only be carried out under the supervision of an experienced specialist!

For fat people and everyone, everyone, everyone...

Despite the total liberalization of food prices and the no less total lack of money, the majority of the population of our country (more than 2/3!) is still overweight. This paradox will turn out to be only a paradox at first glance when we remember what and how we eat.

Of course, the vast majority eat not so much what is necessary and beneficial for the body, but rather what their meager (albeit apparently bloated) wallet allows. Not to mention the ingrained habit of sweets and fatty foods. It is due to carbohydrate-fatty foods that we overeat in calories. At the same time, our food often lacks complete proteins (especially plant-based). And many of us often eat for the future - in the morning (before work) and after a working day, and many just before bed, because during the day dropping into some “cafe” is very wasteful and unaffordable for a meager family budget. Oversaturation with calories causes physical inactivity and a sedentary lifestyle.

What are your main mistakes in eating, dear fat people? And they are:

1. You eat too quickly, swallowing foods and forgetting that they should be chewed thoroughly, thoroughly moistened with saliva (it contains enzymes necessary for proper digestion of food).

2. You often simply overeat.

3. You eat irregularly, with long breaks, forgetting that for high-quality absorption of food you should take it little by little, but 4 – 5 times a day.

4. You eat too much fatty foods, forgetting that you should limit animal fats by increasing plant fats.

5. You consume a lot of fried foods.

6. You eat, forgetting about your age (with age it is necessary to reduce the amount of food and change its qualitative composition).

7. You eat few vegetables, fruits, fish, low-fat dairy products, but a lot of sweets and cheeses.

8. You consume excess amounts of carbohydrates, especially white sugar, as well as white bread.

9. In general, you eat a lot and move little!

Everyone to fight!

And now is the time to answer a question that is relevant to many: what needs to be done to avoid excess weight?

And here is the time to introduce readers to the rules of eating, which American nutritionist Juddy Gill recommends adhering to.

So, to avoid excess weight:

1. Do not eat the entire dish, although you have been taught since childhood not to leave anything on the plate. Look at yourself - what this led to.

2. Don't be distracted while eating. If you, for example, read at the table, then you do not pay attention to how and what you eat. Of course, this does not mean that you should not talk at the table, but do not forget how you eat.

3. Having put a small piece into your mouth, put a spoon or fork and try to feel the taste and aroma of the food. Chew your food thoroughly and do not handle the appliance again until you have swallowed it.

4. Be sure to take short breaks between sips.

5. Try not to eat alone. Perhaps having someone else at the table will remind you to moderate your appetite.

6. Spouses should support each other in their desire to stick to a diet.

Prepare a reasonable amount of food. If you have prepared too much, there will always be someone who wants to eat it all, and most often it turns out to be the one for whom it is most contraindicated.

7. Try to stretch out your meal times. Remember that the signal to satisfy your hunger reaches the brain only 20 minutes after you start eating!

8. If you have a dining room in your apartment, set the table in it and lay out the dishes in the kitchen. If you want more, you'll have to go to the kitchen again. Then you may give up your intention.

Therapeutic fasting for super fat people

But what to do if a person’s life is hindered by his excess weight?

Once, a colleague, whom we jokingly called a “fighter,” approached me with a similar question. He struggled with his 120 kilograms every day! He tried to run, after which his appetite awoke. I tried various diets, maintaining any of them only for a day and by the evening satiating my “animal-oral” reflex hunger. Started and quit smoking...

But his problems, of course, were not only and not so much overweight. My colleague also noted increased blood pressure, headaches, pain in the heart and liver, decreased performance and sexual potency.

And so we agreed that he... stops fighting. It will just be there. And often (!). Fortunately, he had a garden plot, and much of what he needed was at hand.

He loved to eat, chew, fill his stomach, and he got this opportunity! In the morning he chewed one or two apples, then - two or three hours later - a pear or plum. Next, watercress alternated with cucumber or fresh cabbage salads. In the afternoon he had lunch: for lunch he had vegetable or fruit soups (but without sugar!) and even (every other day) pumpkin porridge and squash caviar. His beloved bread and our “second bread”—potatoes—were completely excluded from his diet. Not to mention animal fats and meat. In the evening he could eat some fish with vegetables sprinkled with vegetable oil. During the day, in addition to regular water and morning weak tea, he drank alkaline water (which in itself reduced appetite).

Within a week he was able to withstand a 24-hour complete abstinence from food with cleansing of the body! In another week - 36 hours. And after the next week - 48-hour fasting! Moreover, from the second week he could replace fish with poultry in the evenings. Once or twice a week he also ate a boiled egg. Fermented milk products were occasionally added to his diet. The diet was accompanied by rationalized physical exercises combined with active walking, massage and training in mental self-regulation skills, which helped to get away from “appetizing thoughts” and experiences.

Two months later, he underwent an 8-day course of complete abstinence from food, followed by an adequate 8-day recovery on a special diet.

Next - a diet in which 40 - 50 percent consisted of fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, and fasting days with 24-hour complete abstinence from food. He usually practiced them on weekends.

Our painstaking, persistent work has been crowned with complete success!

This now 90-kilogram man has become physically and mentally younger! All his “illnesses” disappeared. And for almost 9 years he has been living a healthy, fulfilling, happy life!

Unloading

People who are accustomed to eating a lot often are usually afraid of going hungry even for a day. And it is really difficult for them to suddenly refuse food. You should prepare yourself for a more stringent regime: about a week before fasting, you need to reduce your usual diet, giving preference to dietary, plant-based foods.

I have more than once observed people who, having started fasting without any preparation (not to mention studies of the functions of the excretory organs and blood tests), already by the end of the first day or on the second day complained that they had a headache and were feeling nauseous , they feel weak. The reason here is not only that a person is often depressed even by the thought that he cannot eat anything, but also in a possible drop in blood pressure or a decrease in blood sugar levels.

That is why I remind you again and again: do not fast without the supervision of a specialist!

However, most of us, the so-called practically healthy people, but undoubtedly polluted with toxic compounds and metabolic products of people, need to independently carry out preventive fasting days.

Short-term, on average up to three days, abstinence from food is physiological and, in general, easily tolerated. But longer periods of complete abstinence from food deserve special discussion.

Those wishing to make a temporary “truce with the stomach” can be recommended to start with one-day abstinence from food. They can be practiced once every l - 2 weeks. Then it is recommended to move on to two-day cycles of complete fasting (on average, once every three weeks is best). And only then, having checked yourself, can you begin three-day abstinence (with a frequency of no more than 1 - 2 times a quarter).

Let me remind you again: you should, at a minimum, know your blood sugar levels. And one more thing - entering and exiting fasting should occur without animal (especially meat!) food, equivalent to the duration of abstinence. So, with three-day cycles, you should give up any meat food 3 days before the start of fasting and within 3 days after leaving it.

If you completely refuse food, you need to drink 1.5 - 2.5 liters of liquid per day. This can be distilled or boiled water, alkaline mineral waters such as Borjomi, you can (especially in the winter-spring period) add rosehip decoction.

To completely cleanse the intestines, before fasting, take a saline laxative (magnesium sulfate, Barbara, Carlsbad salt). You can also use herbal laxatives (such as “Senode” and the like), but in no case oil-based ones! And during the fasting process, you should give cleansing enemas in the morning (maybe with chamomile).

For those who decide to completely abstain from eating, I recommend an approximate diet for breaking out of complete fasting:

– for breakfast: juices, maybe tea (preferably unsweetened) with crackers;

– for lunch: vegetable salads, porridge with water or seasoned with vegetable oil;

– for those who do not accept meals without the first one: vegetable or fruit soup with a small amount of bread (preferably black, dried);

– for dinner: salads, cereals, greens, fruits (in the winter season, possibly dried or canned).

For those who are afraid of hunger, we can recommend courses of so-called juice fasting. Per day you take on average 1 liter of a mixture of vegetable and pulp-free fruit juices, adding water as needed. Moreover, it is desirable that fruit juices contain a minimum of sugar (to reduce fermentation processes in the stomach and intestines).

It is possible to “fast on whey” when you drink 0.5 - 1 glass of whey from curdled kefir or yogurt 3 times a day.

You can also practice just fruit or vegetable days.

“For starters” we offer a surprisingly simple anti-aging diet:

– grate fresh carrots, add honey, lemon juice and some fruits (their quantity depends on your taste, desire and capabilities);

– in the morning, at lunch and for dinner for three days, eat only this puree;

– on the fourth day, include potatoes, bread, apples (in moderation) in your diet;

– from the fifth day you can switch to a normal diet for you, without forgetting one thing – limit yourself in the consumption of animal fats and meat.

After some time, the anti-aging diet can be repeated.

Types of fasting

"On the Water"

Goltis

Water fasting is very simple. You simply don’t eat anything and drink plenty of clean water. The more and the more often you drink, the more intense the cleansing occurs.

When water enters the body, but no food enters, a program of total “flushing” of all organs and systems is launched. After all, all the necessary conditions appear for this. Firstly, water is an ideal solvent. Secondly, the body does not have to spend a huge amount of resources on digesting food and neutralizing waste. Therefore, the body begins to “open up” the burial places of toxins, which previously, due to a lack of resources, including chronic dehydration, simply did not have time to utilize and remove. So don’t be surprised that after a couple of days of “wet” fasting, your desire to drink may noticeably increase.

But the process of endogenous nutrition during wet fasting does not immediately start at full capacity, in comparison with “dry” fasting - the priority is given to flushing the body.

Water

You can fast on frozen, melted, distilled and spring water without salts. You cannot go hungry on mineral water. The fewer salts and inorganic acids are dissolved in it, the easier it is for such water to dissolve and remove toxins and poisons. Its temperature should preferably be below 10 degrees Celsius.

You need to drink as much as possible, at least 2-3 liters per day. For example, you can drink 1-2 glasses 7-10 times.

It is recommended to take a dip and shower.

Abstinence from food: harm and benefit

When answering the question of whether fasting is beneficial for the body, it is important to clearly weigh the pros and cons, understanding what happens in the body during the absence of food. In such a situation, the body gradually switches to internal support, using its own fat reserves to ensure vital functions. The intensity of metabolic processes at this time gradually decreases. Due to this effect, both certain benefits and harm to the body are noted.

Harm

Arguments about why fasting is harmful sound like this:

  • With prolonged hunger, the body experiences very severe stress. In such a situation, bad cholesterol levels increase, and this is dangerous for health, since cholesterol plaques .
  • In the process of abstaining from eating, the body uses up not only fat reserves, but also muscle tissue, which leads to a decrease in its amount. This is the answer to the question why, during hunger, the skin becomes flabby and wrinkles form.
  • Prolonged hunger leads to deterioration of immunity , as a result of which the body can be attacked by viruses and bacteria.
  • The longer a person fasts, the more intensely his hemoglobin . This leads to a decrease in the number of red blood cells , which determine the supply of oxygen to cells. That is why, during hunger, weakness, fatigue, deterioration of memory and attention often appear.
  • The level of essential microelements and vitamins . This is unsafe for the liver, heart, blood vessels and other organs.
  • Metabolic processes may be disrupted. Despite the fact that fasting in general is aimed at improving and normalizing metabolic processes, metabolism can be disrupted, and the body, “scared” by hunger, will later begin to actively accumulate fat. As a rule, this happens if you fast uncontrollably, too often and ignore the rules.
  • Fasting may worsen the body's condition if a person is sick with chronic illnesses. In such a situation, in no case should such experiments be carried out on the body without the approval and subsequent supervision of a doctor.

Benefit

Without a doubt, with the right approach to fasting, there is a beneficial effect of this process on the body:

  • Regular or combined fasting makes it possible to treat some diseases - inflammatory processes, gastrointestinal diseases. Proponents of this method remind us that with serious illnesses a person has no appetite, and during recovery it begins to return. This, in their opinion, indicates that in order to activate recovery, the body needs hunger, since it needs to direct energy to fight pathogens, and not to digest food.
  • Healing hunger makes it possible to mobilize the body's reserve forces, thereby improving the functioning of all organs and systems. And if if you fast for too long, cholesterol levels can increase, then with proper fasting, both cholesterol levels and sugar levels decrease.
  • Proponents of this method argue that in the process of abstaining from food, toxins and other harmful substances are actively removed from the body.
  • Dosed hunger or abstinence from eating juices, honey, etc. makes it possible to lose extra pounds. Initially, in the absence of food entering the body, fat breakdown occurs. But if you fast incorrectly, weight loss will be replaced by the breakdown of muscle tissue, which must be taken into account.

Did you know?

  • To restore calcium, you need to eat cottage cheese and red pepper throughout the day.
  • Freshly squeezed juice does not lose its beneficial properties for 30-60 minutes - vegetable juice, a little longer - fruit juice.
  • Berries are also useful in winter: frozen or dried. Dried is preferable.
  • The bread can be unleavened or unleavened lavash, or dried (crackers).
  • Butter is useful, but not during fasting.
  • Caviar with bread is fine.
  • You can have pancakes without eggs, without yeast.
  • After holidays/weddings, when everything is mixed, the next day we either eat fruits/berries or go hungry.
  • Instead of meat, you can put mushrooms/beans in borscht.
  • St. John's wort is a very strong herb, drink no more than three times a year for no longer than a week.
  • If you overeat, you want to drink and sleep.
  • Porridge with dried fruits (including muesli, etc.) is not allowed, it causes fermentation. But you can have berries with oatmeal.
  • You can buy stevia at the pharmacy - a sweet plant that replaces sugar.
  • It is important to chew carbohydrates (porridge, bread, berries, fruits) for a long time; you can chew meat for a short time.

Exit

You need to not only prepare for, but also exit from therapeutic fasting correctly. If at the initial stages the disruptions are not so noticeable, then in this case everything is much more serious. The thing is that by the end of therapy the temptation to eat something tasty increases several times.

Many people break down almost the next day after finishing the program and immediately end up in a hospital bed. The digestive system is in the most relaxed state, and large amounts of heavy food have a bad effect on its functioning.

The hardest thing is to come out of dry fasting. The next day after the end of therapy, you are allowed to drink only water. Other types of LH allow additional consumption of freshly squeezed vegetable juices, as well as light salads without dressing and salt. In the following days, 1-2 products are introduced into the diet.

They don't have to be "heavy". Meat, fish, eggs and milk are added to the menu last.

"Dry" fasting

Most biochemical processes in the body require water. When precious liquid stops coming from the outside, the body begins to look for it inside the body, redistribute it and save it. And there is water! By priority, first the liquid is extracted from the tissues in which inflammatory processes occur (naturally, the inflammation itself is healed!). Further, water is removed from harmful organisms - parasites, bacteria, viruses (all these uninvited guests are destroyed!). Next comes the turn of the cells of your own body: unhealthy, sick, damaged. Then old and weakened cells are used. As a result, only the healthiest and most viable cells survive, which, after the end of fasting, begin to divide, forming healthy, renewed tissue.

One day of dry fasting is equivalent in effect to three days “on the water”.

Goltis

“When foreign substances are burned, it is as if a fire is lit in every cell. On day 4-5 it feels like your body is just burning. There is no need to be afraid of this. There is no other way to remove parasites and foreign substances from the body in such a short time. And this is the priority of dry fasting. It is especially useful to fast in beautiful, clean places - in the Carpathians, on Lake Baikal, in the Crimea in the spring, when the sea is fresh and rested. In terms of its impact, such fasting is simply incredible! People bathe in the morning dew, plunge into ice-cold water, receiving a colossal mental recharge. Three days of dry fasting in such places of grace and exercise “impulse” can be equated in terms of health-improving effects to 20 days of fasting on water in a city.”

How to fast properly?

In the process of refusing food, it is important to adhere to a number of recommendations that will help you get the maximum effect from fasting.

  • During this period, it is better not to overload physically, giving up intense sports, but at the same time be active - walk, do your usual activities. But you also need to rest quite a lot during this period.
  • During periods of hunger, it is recommended to cleanse the intestines using enemas, flushing the intestines with saline solution . Those who are interested in what happens in the body during fasting need to know that toxins are very actively released through the intestines at this time. That is why it is recommended to cleanse the intestines every other day or every day, depending on the duration of fasting. If we are talking about a one-day fast, you can do without enemas.
  • During periods of hunger, it is necessary to shower frequently to cleanse not only the internal organs, but also the skin. It is recommended not to use cosmetics at this time. If there are no contraindications, you can visit the sauna or bathhouse.
  • It is recommended to meditate and experience pleasant emotions to avoid the harmful effects of stress.
  • If you practice so-called juice fasting or apple fasting, you should drink only fresh juices and purees. Canned juices should absolutely not be consumed. As for what you can drink during severe hunger, in this case it is allowed to consume water with a small amount of lemon juice.
  • The answer to the question is whether it is possible to take medications while fasting is negative. Those who want to get the maximum positive effect should not take medications during this period, if their health allows it. If you cannot do without medication, you should consult your doctor about the advisability of abstaining from food.

Life during fasting

Physical activity

During fasting, it is recommended to do exercises using the “Healing Impulse” technique and the “Squeeze” complex. The deeper you penetrate all the systems of the body, the more effective the cleansing processes will be due to the force of compression of the intercellular space.

Mental activity

You can think effectively while fasting. Due to the suspension of processes associated with the assimilation and digestion of food, despite some lack of energy, the body has enough resources for any thought processes. Often the mind works more clearly and sharply, and better concentration is achieved.

Creation

As practice shows, most people's creative potential increases, new ideas appear, old ones are rethought, energy and time are acquired for their implementation.

Crises

During fasting, long-standing illnesses may worsen and various pains may arise. You need to understand that this is a common occurrence. All this must be endured and rejoice that the body was finally able to pay attention to solving these problems. Arrhythmia during fasting is normal. May cause blocked ears. Can twist joints. The only thing that cannot be tolerated is a severe headache. If it intensifies and does not go away, you need to stop fasting.

Weakness and rest

Feeling weak is common during fasting. There is no need to be afraid of her. Weakness is a beneficial factor. This is evidence of the inclusion of deep cleaning processes. Naturally, if weakness appears, it is better to rest, walk more in the fresh air. But remember, even with severe weakness, the body always has resources and with a strong-willed effort you can switch the body to intense activity.

Goltis

“After the first day of fasting, almost all people develop bad breath. This is a completely normal phenomenon and it means that cleansing of the body has begun. Also, on day 2-3 of fasting on water, 80% of fasting people feel weak. On the 3rd day of dry fasting, 99% experience colossal weakness: some feel nauseous, some vomit, some have twisted knees. And if you don’t understand that weakness, first of all, is the most beneficial phenomenon for the body, then you can get scared. Remember, weakness is evidence that the body is using all its strength and internal reserves to solve primary problems related to restoring health. The work of the gastrointestinal tract takes up to 70-80% of the body’s total energy. As soon as food does not arrive, a signal immediately goes off that you can direct all your efforts to solving the most important problems - miraculous healing. Feeling weak does not mean that the body is left without strength. Anyone who has tried fasting for several days knows a simple confirmation of this. As soon as a person decides that he will go out, power immediately appears. Just from the realization that he will drink the first mug of water! The body is preparing to redirect its forces from cleansing to normal activities. That is, weakness goes away when, thanks to thoughts, the body switches to another mode. The body has enough accumulated resources to function without food for 20 or 30 days. Therefore, weakness on the 3-4th day only means that all forces, all resources are thrown into cleansing the body.”

Fasting: reviews and results

Despite the fact that in different sources you can find quite polar reviews about fasting, the following conclusion can be drawn from them: you can get tangible positive results if you carefully follow all the recommendations and correctly enter and exit this process. Cleansing the body allows people who practice intermittent fasting to look much younger and fresher, which is undoubtedly visible in the before and after photos.

Numerous diaries, which not only show photos, but also provide links to interesting videos, detail how people gradually entered into this process.

Many people claim that already during the first fast they managed not only to improve their health, but also to lose several kilograms in 2-3 days of fasting. Those who have already “entered” the system of intermittent fasting have much more pronounced results.

There are many reviews on how fasting helped cure serious illnesses. Famous people also talk about this. For example, actor Nikita Dzhigurda shared his impressions of how he managed to cure an ulcer with the help of hunger. Each thematic forum contains many similar stories, where fasting is discussed by both experienced people and those who only intend to practice it.

But the essence of most reviews boils down to one thing: abstaining from food is advisable only under medical supervision and very strict adherence to all recommendations.

Useful tips

  • During fasting, it is recommended to engage in a set of physical exercises using the “Healing Impulse” method, but if the weakness is severe, do it in unloading mode.
  • Best time for fasting: 2nd and 4th phases of the moon; It is good for believers to combine fasting with fasting.
  • If you fast for one day, then on Friday, if you fast for 3 days, then Wednesday-Friday.
  • Remember, the greater the bodily weakness, the stronger the cleansing. If the weakness is great, it is better to lie down without any exertion (refraining even from reading books).
  • Brush your teeth without toothpaste.
  • You can't take hot baths.
  • Do not stand up abruptly - you may feel dizzy.
  • It is very useful to douse or plunge.
  • During fasting, the following are allowed: increased blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmia (change in heart rate) and bad breath.
  • If desired, you can do an enema before and during fasting (except for dry fasting) no more than 2 times a day.
  • When you come out of fasting, clean your tongue with a spoon, chew thoroughly and spit out 2 apples. Slurp when chewing.

Breaking out of fasting

In order not to cancel out all your efforts in one fell swoop, it is worth thinking about the right way out of fasting.

  • It is important to ensure that overeating does not become a stumbling block. If you feel like you've already eaten too much, you can induce vomiting to get rid of excess food.
  • It is advisable to eliminate or limit salt intake at the exit, otherwise edema will inevitably occur, which one would like to avoid.
  • Enemas, especially if you performed them regularly while fasting, should be continued, this will prevent you from suffering from constipation.

It is worth excluding sugar during recovery nutrition after fasting, herbs, spices, and spicy foods.

Fractional nutrition and small portions

You need to consume all dishes in tiny portions, dividing your daily diet into 5-8 meals. This will help you avoid the temptation to eat everything at once. It’s easier to place small portions on smaller plates, which will make them appear larger and require less food to fill you up.

Vegetable and fermented milk foods

It’s worth starting with light dishes for the stomach, which after fasting, especially long-term, may partially lose functionality. It is optimal to give preference to boiled or steamed vegetables, broths, and sour milk. Of these products, the least toxins are released, and they are processed in our body almost one hundred percent.

Compliance with time intervals

It is worth making regular meals at the exit and between periods of fasting. This will teach the stomach to work like a clock and on the clock. Then entry and exit from autophagy will be easier, and the sensations will become less unpleasant. Moreover, it will be much easier to overcome the persistent feeling of hunger at inopportune times with just a few sips of water.

Your first fasting experience

Easy and accessible – 24 hours

The structure is very simple

  1. One day we eat fruits and vegetables. If desired, we drink herbal teas with honey and lemon, freshly squeezed juices - this will be the entrance.
  2. The second day is the actual fasting, during which you can only drink water. As soon as you feel hungry, drink half a glass of water.
  3. Wait until evening and go to bed. The most important point here is not to eat anything before bed.
  4. In the morning, enjoy your first 24 hour fast!
  5. Enjoy tea with honey (sugar is not allowed!). All day long, discover the taste of fresh fruits, berries and vegetables.
  6. From the next day you can return to your usual diet.

We recommend getting your first serious experience of fasting (for example, three days dry) at a week-long practical seminar using the “Healing Impulse” method: in nature, in a circle of like-minded people, under the supervision of certified instructors. For you, this will become the basis for proper fasting at home.

Preparing for fasting

You cannot start fasting without proper preparation for the process. If you neglect this stage, you may encounter serious complications and a complete lack of any positive results. What is the “entrance” to the diet, and how to start correctly? Everything is very simple:

  • We gradually eliminate all unhealthy foods from our diet: sweet, carbonated water, processed foods, alcohol, fast food, etc.
  • We give up smoked meats, fatty, sweet and starchy foods and switch to proper nutrition.
  • For a while, we forget about this method of preparing dishes, such as frying.
  • 7 days before fasting, we exclude eggs, dairy products, as well as fish and meat from the menu.
  • We increase the amount of fluid consumed.

Interesting fact. You will also have to give up smoking. Therapeutic fasting is incompatible with bad habits. It is advisable during the preparatory stage, which lasts about 2 weeks, to sign up for yoga or start doing breathing exercises at home.

Important!

We do not recommend fasting without competent individual advice from an experienced specialist! Violation of schedules, sequence, and quantity of foods consumed (especially when coming out of fasting) can cause harm to your body.

It’s better not to fast at all than to do it incorrectly or thoughtlessly! Take care of your health!

Who shouldn't fast?

Before starting the process, it is important to determine whether a person can fast and whether there are any certain restrictions for this procedure. You should not practice abstinence from food in the following cases:

  • with exhaustion, anorexia ;
  • with an active form of tuberculosis , malignant tumors, kidney and liver disorders;
  • during pregnancy ;
  • if the body is infected with a certain form of parasites;
  • for psychoneurological diseases, as well as diseases of the nervous system.

If you abstain from food in such cases, the consequences for the body can be very sad.
