Dry fasting - treatment and weight loss in one bottle or senseless self-torture

Dry fasting, treatment, health, fasting, weight loss, diet, beauty

Only beginners can dream of losing weight quickly. Those who have been struggling with extra pounds for a long time know that the process can take a long time. Yes, there are effective and short-term methods, but most of them are extreme and belong to alternative medicine. This means that their effect on health has not been fully studied, the harm may exceed the degree of benefit, and only the person losing weight is responsible for the results.

Dry fasting, which has recently become increasingly popular, is one of these methods of weight loss. Before following new fashion trends, you need to figure out whether it is worth subjecting your own body to such a test.

What it is

Dry fasting is complete abstinence from food and water on a voluntary basis. For a certain period of time (from 1 to 7 days), a person refuses all meals and any drinking, and in some cases even water procedures. It can be used for medicinal purposes (to get rid of certain diseases) and dietary (for weight loss). It belongs to alternative medicine and is subject to active criticism from the official.

It’s clear how the process of losing weight occurs during dry fasting. In the absence of food, the body begins to consume its own reserves to obtain the necessary resources. Proponents of this method focus on intensive fat burning, the death of non-viable cells and the use of excess fluid that accumulates in tissues. The toxins also go away with them. However, what is usually not said is that muscle fibers are broken down first.

The results are mixed. Supporters write about incredible rejuvenation of the entire body at the cellular level, miraculous relief from almost all diseases, and weight loss of 10-15 kg in a week. Critics, in contrast, cite the example of people who found themselves in a hospital bed after several days of abstaining from food and water. A number of sources indicate cases of diabetic ketoacidotic coma and even death.

To understand what dry fasting really is – the elixir of eternal youth or self-torture, it’s worth getting to know this technique better.

Recommendations for conducting

Many people prefer Shchennikov’s technique because it allows you to fast without pain. Everything in it is so thought out that the side effects do not go beyond the limits of tolerance, since both morally and physically the person is ready for the tests. He knows that they are all symptoms of healing. To endure them and the pangs of hunger and thirst, you need to follow the recommendations of Leonid Alexandrovich.

Frequency and duration

You need to start with a one-day 24-hour fast. Repeat it several times with a break of 4-5 days. Next, try the 36-hour. Also do several repetitions. After 2-3 weeks, prepare yourself mentally for two days of abstinence, practice it with arbitrary breaks until it is easily tolerated.

As you can see, there are no clear schemes or deadlines, and this is another advantage of the method. You move to the next step when you yourself consider it necessary. And you also determine the duration of breaks between hunger strikes yourself (but not less than 4 days, since that is how long the exit lasts).

In order for the healing processes to begin, you need to wait for an acidotic crisis. According to Shchennikov, it occurs on the 9th day of dry fasting. Its signs:

  • increased body temperature (especially the head) with cold extremities;
  • semi-fainting state;
  • vomit;
  • heavy menstruation outside the cycle in women;
  • tachycardia.

All these unpleasant sensations must be perceived as signs of complete recovery. To relieve them, the healer recommends sitting in a bath with water at room temperature and breathing cool fresh air at night.

Daily regime

In the daily routine that Shchennikov recommends following during fasting, you will probably be surprised by being awake at night. This is the regime that the healer considers optimal for the functioning of the body in conditions of abstinence from food and water.

Other nuances

  1. Remove food and water from sight.
  2. Refrain from intimacy.
  3. Breathe through your nose. Talk as little as possible, keeping your mouth closed. Don't spit. Do not rinse your mouth or brush your teeth.
  4. To save energy. Do not make sudden movements. Don't play sports.
  5. Recommended activities: knitting, embroidery, drawing, reading, yoga, auto-training, prayer.
  6. Keep yourself in control. Do not be nervous. Avoid bad thoughts and conflicts. Be humble and modest.
  7. Wear light, loose clothing made from natural fabrics. It should not squeeze the body.
  8. Walk barefoot.
  9. Constantly ventilate the room. Breathe fresh air as much and often as possible.
  10. Don't do enemas.

You can practice long-term dry fasting (5 days or more) no more than once every six months.

What happens to the body

During fasting, the body goes through several stages.

Stage I

The name is food excitement. Duration - 2 days. The degree of stress is minimal. Losing weight by 3 kg.

Starting processes:

  • the hypothalamus begins to actively work (the hormones it secretes regulate the activity of the thyroid gland, which has to function in a new mode and adapt to it);
  • the level of somatotropin increases (it increases the amount of glucagon in the pancreas, which begins to intensively break down glycogen located in the liver).

Terminology. After about 36 hours of dry fasting, apoptosis begins - the death of damaged, diseased, obsolete cells. Then it gradually increases.

Symptoms:

  • any mention of food is annoying;
  • increased salivation;
  • heavy feeling of emptiness in the stomach;
  • rumbling in the stomach;
  • insomnia;
  • mood swings, depression;
  • unbearable hunger against the background of more or less tolerable thirst.

Stage II

Names: increasing acidosis / first acidotic crisis. Duration: 2-4 days. The degree of stress is increasing. Lose another 2-3 kg.

Starting processes:

  • active consumption of reserves (the same fat reserves), damaged tissues, pathogenic microorganisms, “dead” water, diseased cells are consumed;
  • after their splitting, decomposition products are formed;
  • as a result, the body’s pH becomes acidic, but within the normal range;
  • autolysis—self-digestion of weakened, pathological and foreign cells and tissues—increases;
  • oxidation processes and increased activity of phagocytes normalize the microflora;
  • this leads to the destruction of diseased elements and the removal of all organic debris accumulated in the body;
  • air becomes the nutrient medium.

In theoretical descriptions, the concept of the “principle of priority” is applied to this stage. It says that the body, when there is a deficiency of nutrition and water, first of all destroys everything unnecessary, without affecting healthy tissue. This hypothesis has no scientific confirmation. Official medicine refutes it: examinations of people after fasting show the persistence of stones, tumors, and visceral fat, but at the same time there is a significant loss of muscle tissue and a decrease in the performance of many organs.

Symptoms:

  • headache;
  • nausea;
  • weakness, drowsiness;
  • general malaise;
  • gray coating on the tongue, cracks on the lips due to dryness, unpleasant mucus in the mouth, acetone smell of breath;
  • dry, pale skin;
  • the feeling of hunger decreases, but thirst becomes unbearable.

All this is due to the accumulation of breakdown products in the blood after autolysis. In medicine, this condition is diagnosed as hunger-induced homotoxicosis.

Proponents of dry fasting claim that it is at this stage that chronic diseases are cured and the immune system is strengthened. In fact, cases of miraculous recovery from long-term illnesses in this way are very rare and raise many doubts among official medicine. Much more often, after 4 days of such abstinence, people end up in a hospital bed - weakened, with aggravated and acquired diseases.

Stage III

The name is compensation (adaptation) with a smooth flow into the second acidotic crisis. The duration is determined by the individual characteristics of the body: on average, adaptation occurs from days 5 to 8, the second crisis - from 8 to 11. The degree of stress is first decreasing, then maximum. Losing 3-4 kg during compensation and the same amount during acidosis.

Compensation

The body, as far as possible, adapts to new conditions of existence.

Symptoms:

  • improvement of well-being;
  • decrease in weakness;
  • disappearance of most unpleasant sensations;
  • the feeling of hunger goes away, thirst comes in waves, but its attacks are quite severe and difficult to bear.

Second crisis

There is a maximum activation of the immune forces, which begin to fight the most inveterate diseases, incurable, from the point of view of official medicine.

Symptoms:

  • exacerbation of all existing diseases;
  • maximum temperature rise;
  • deterioration of health;
  • exhaustion;
  • weakness, loss of strength;
  • insomnia;
  • breakdown;
  • hunger and thirst feel equally unbearable.

During this period, the body undergoes two changes - primary and secondary. First, he adapts to new conditions of existence, and then makes them work for his benefit.

Dispute between doctors and adherents of dry fasting

The latter rely on the theory of autophagy, namely: lack of food and water forces our body to effectively break down its own fat in order to obtain energy not received from the outside. SG adherents coined the concept of “spring cleaning,” which supposedly has a healing effect on a person. But judge for yourself: first, the cell disintegrates with the release of toxins. They must be brought out so that they do not have a detrimental effect on the organs. Without water, the removal of toxins becomes almost impossible, so their active absorption into the blood begins, followed by intoxication for all organs and systems.

When fluid intake is restricted, people always feel very unwell. As for the notorious “general cleaning of the body,” organs such as the kidneys and liver can handle it quite well. If there is no fluid, they begin to work very poorly, and serious diseases (often with irreversible pathological processes), alas, are not far off. And if you want to help your liver and kidneys eliminate toxins, the best way to do this is to reduce the caloric content of the food you consume. A temporary exclusion of trans fats and fast carbohydrates from the diet will be sufficient. If there is too much desire to limit yourself in something, use a safer method in the form of a fasting day. At the same time, in no case should one confuse a fasting day with a hunger strike, completely identifying both with each other. Unfortunately, people tend to confuse these two completely different concepts with very sad consequences for themselves.

Remember that when arranging a fasting day for yourself, it is important to drink enough liquid. For example, vegetable puree soups, drinks without sugar and sweeteners, as well as plain water, without which no cleansing of the body is physiologically simply possible, will be useful.

By the way: during severe hunger strikes, people begin to lose not only fat, but also muscle mass, which later, after breaking fast, gradually transforms into the same hated fat - and the “struggle” begins all over again.

If you look through Instagram about dry fasting, you can find quite a large number of publications from users who have had sad experiences when trying to fast not only “dry”, but even with water. Many people stay on SG for two days at most, after which the processes of intoxication of the body begin. There are also particularly fanatical individuals who manage to stay dry for five to six days, but the consequences in almost one hundred percent are very disappointing.

Bloggers vied with each other about the “gain of strength” and “vigor” in the process of SG, but the vast majority of people describe everything exactly the opposite: they experience weakness, lethargy, severe muscle pain, irritability, anxiety and fear. The fact is that the first system that automatically begins to activate when there is a lack of food and water in the body is, of course, the nervous one. It gives a person signals of obvious “disorder,” because along with the absorption of toxins into the blood, hypoxia (oxygen starvation) of the brain occurs. Concentration is impaired, problems with attention and other thought processes begin. In the worst cases, a person may even experience hallucinatory and delusional disorders. Suffice it to recall the numerous religious legends about stern monks who, in the desert or in the forest, practiced “strict abstinence,” consuming neither food nor water. It is not surprising that on the fifth or sixth day of the hunger strike they had vivid religious visions, which they presented as some kind of immutable truth.

Euphoria and hallucinatory syndrome, characteristic of particularly fanatical adherents of a particular religion, are caused by the fact that the level of ketone bodies in the body sharply increases. These are toxic substances, the appearance of which is due to the breakdown of both fatty and amino acids. Any fasting is inevitably associated with their appearance. With a moderate increase in the amount of ketone bodies, some people actually experience a temporary lift in mood and pleasant emotional overexcitation. If ketone bodies “fly up” to a critical level, hallucinations and delusions begin, since the brain simply cannot withstand such obvious violence.

Arguments for"

Cleansing the body

It is believed that the benefits of dry fasting are primarily in self-cleansing of the body. Moreover, the key point is the lack of water, not food. Without it, bacteria and viruses cannot exist, which begin to die in such conditions. Therefore, a general improvement occurs due to the destruction of everything foreign and harmful, which can provoke various diseases.

Autolysis

Terminology. The breakdown of tissues as a result of the lack of nutrients entering the body is called autolysis in medicine.

The great benefit of dry fasting is that adhesions and plaques in the blood vessels are broken down. Therefore, it is recommended primarily for those who suffer from atherosclerosis.

Temperature increase

Without water, your body temperature gradually begins to rise. This provokes intense release of interferon. It kills pathogenic bacteria present in the body at that moment. Moreover, even inactive ones die. The result is elimination:

  • infections;
  • cystic neoplasms;
  • inflammation;
  • boils;
  • benign tumors;
  • colds;
  • edema.

However, treatment of the above diseases with dry fasting should be carried out under the constant supervision of a doctor, as it occurs against a background of elevated temperature.

Weight loss

Another plus is weight loss. To produce energy, fat reserves are used as fuel. As for the breakdown of muscle fibers, its supporters argue that the body destroys only the protein that forms the basis of already affected tissues and is of no value. Weight loss results - up to minus 10 kg per week.

Getting rid of “dead” water

This is the name given to water with a high level of deuterium (heavy hydrogen). It has poisonous properties. Where it accumulates in the body, a “swamp” is formed where pathogenic microorganisms actively multiply. During dry fasting it is eliminated.

And a number of other advantages of the technique (from the point of view of its supporters):

  • recovery from all diseases - acute, chronic and incurable;
  • tissue renewal, rejuvenation;
  • radiation protection;
  • cancer prevention;
  • strengthening willpower;
  • cleansing not only the body, but also thinking and energy chakras;
  • filling with strength and energy.

As already mentioned, all this data requires scientific confirmation.

Dry fasting. Other types of fasting as preparation for it

This article will talk about dry fasting and how to competently carry it out on your own. However, before moving directly to a description of the process and benefits of dry fasting, let’s take a brief excursion and figure out what types of fasting still exist.

Before embarking on the practice of dry fasting, namely fasting when a person does not ingest not only solid food, but also liquids, including juices and water, we will describe ordinary fasting and its types, since it can serve as excellent preparation and good beginning before proceeding directly to dry fasting.

If you have never fasted before, then it is advisable to start your experience with water fasting, because during it the body will experience less stress, and you will feel more comfortable during the fasting period. It is very important to try to heed this recommendation, because suddenly stopping food intake, especially if you are on a regular diet, i.e. consuming animal protein and canned products, switching to dry fasting can cause more harm than good

.

So start your practice with a 36-hour water fast, and then gradually, when you have gained sufficient experience in this kind of water fasting, including cascade fasting, you can move on to dry fasting. In the process of therapeutic fasting, the stages of preparation for it, as well as the exit from therapeutic fasting, are inseparably linked with the process of temporarily refusing to eat, and in reality they are one interconnected process.

For those who, for some reason, still find the process of fasting on water too radical to start practicing it, we can advise you to experiment with another type of fasting - cascade. The scheme by which you will fast is simplified and allows the starving person to temporarily get out of hunger, and then return to it again.

An example would be this: 1 day of fasting, 1 day of eating plant foods, 2 days of fasting, followed by 3 days of eating plant foods, and so on. There are various programs where the duration of the process of therapeutic fasting varies, but I would like to note that Russian people are unusually categorical about following the instructions, and in this kind of practice this is not always justified. What is good for one may result in negative consequences for another, so no matter what fasting program you follow, pay attention first of all to your well-being. If for some reason you cannot continue fasting, then it is better to leave it in time, analyze your well-being and possibly continue next time, taking into account the developments of past experience.

Dry fasting 36 hours. Benefits of dry fasting

So, what are the benefits of dry fasting and what is its advantage over regular water fasting? It is believed that when absolutely no food or even water enters the body, the cleansing processes that are launched in the body during fasting are significantly activated, which is why some followers of therapeutic fasting prefer to carry out one dry fast of shorter duration than a longer one. water fasting.

During both dry and regular fasting, the body’s forces are aimed at doing “spring cleaning”, hence the healing effect. During normal nutrition throughout life, cells in the body die and most of them, unfortunately, remain inside the body. In order to remove them or somehow utilize them (you will soon understand how this happens), you need to allow the body to rest from eating from time to time.

In fact, one-day fasting is not even fasting, but a fasting day. The body finally rests, first of all, the digestive system rests and is restored, which has a very beneficial effect on all processes occurring in the body. But we will have to disappoint those who think that a one-day fast or fasting for 36 hours will certainly result in weight loss.

The fact is that in order for the real process of breaking down fat cells to begin, at least 3 days must pass. The body is designed in such a way that during the first days, fat reserves remain intact and a person loses only water. Therefore, it is in vain to console yourself with the thought that when you see minus 1 kg on the scales, you have said goodbye to 1 kg of body fat. Nothing of the kind, it was the water that left, which is what you saw on the scales. Therefore, losing weight can be included in the list of positive results of dry fasting, but only when it lasts more than 2 days.

What happens during fasting? The body, due to the lack of external sources of nutrition, begins to look for other reserves, and not only glycogen. Those same dead cells that are still in the body are disposed of. This largely explains the amazing effect of dry fasting, healing from ailments during it, etc., because the body is forced to process and get rid of what has accumulated in it over a long time and what was the cause of these ailments.

If you are ready to go through a 36-hour dry fast, then you need to prepare for it. First of all, a few days before the start of dry fasting, you need to stop eating animal proteins, and just before you start the process, you need to remember to cleanse the intestines so that when you stop eating, toxins do not enter the blood. This will prepare you and make the fasting process more comfortable.

It is even better if you carry out the practice of fasting after you have been completely on a vegetarian diet for a long time. It is well known that long-term fasting is much easier for vegans and vegetarians, not to mention raw foodists.

Arguments against"

From a medical point of view, dry fasting is a complete harm to the body, which manifests itself in different ways:

  • dehydration within 7 days can be fatal, and in hot conditions after 3 days;
  • 1-2 days of dry fasting for diabetics ends in a hypoglycemic coma, from which not everyone can be brought out;
  • on day 3, in fasting people, the activity of digestive enzymes begins to rapidly decrease, which ultimately leads to atrophic changes in the mucous membrane of the small intestine;
  • immunity is suppressed - susceptibility to pathogenic microorganisms increases;
  • Diabetic ketoacidosis may develop;
  • First of all, the body does not burn fat - it synthesizes the glucose necessary for life from amino acids, breaking down muscle fibers and connective tissues;
  • nerve cells that have not received the required dose of glucose during the day die.

Ketoacidosis, which proponents of this technique consider their goal and the beginning of the cleansing process, is nothing more than a dangerous consequence of hunger shock. To dispel this myth, a number of doctors (representatives of official medicine) conducted an experiment. They were able to prove that the body becomes polluted precisely during the period when it receives neither food nor water. In particular, during fasting, stones form in the gall bladder, rather than being removed from it. There is also a scientific basis: cleansing this organ of decay products is impossible without additional intake of fats from food.

The harm of dry fasting is manifested not only by complications and deterioration of health. Even if you managed to avoid negative consequences, you should not hope that the result of losing weight will be lasting. A third of the lost mass (or even more) is muscle. After the end of the test, they are replaced by adipose tissue, even if you exercise. Before you get pumped up, your body will stock up on fatty tissue in order to adequately meet the next “rainy day.”

And one more warning from scientists: fasting greatly depletes muscle and connective tissue. They are the ones who normally support fatty tissue, forming a kind of “corset” around it. But it disappears, and it begins to grow chaotically - this is how pronounced cellulite appears.

When it comes to effective weight loss, dry fasting is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, without water and food, weight loss will indeed be quite significant (it’s rare that a diet can provide minus 10 kg in a week). On the other hand, you will not become the owner of a beautiful figure, since all the adipose tissue will not disappear in such a short time, but muscle breakdown will occur much faster.

Important Warning

Doctors warn that fasting should be carried out in a hospital or sanatorium, extremely rarely on an outpatient basis and never on its own, at home. Moreover, it is prescribed by a specialist. Even if he is a representative of alternative medicine, he must have:

  1. Medical education.
  2. Experience in counseling such patients.
  3. Patents and licenses for conducting such activities.

Prolonged dry fasting is extremely dangerous to health. There are cases when the use of this technique resulted in death due to the discovery of hidden diabetes mellitus, sudden cardiac arrest, and the inability of the body to exit the stage of acidotic crisis. After the experiments, irreversible damage was recorded in such vital organs as the liver and brain.

Possible consequences:

  • anorexia
  • insomnia;
  • stomach pain;
  • bulimia
  • brain starvation;
  • dehydration;
  • fainting;
  • complete loss of strength, inability to do work and housework;
  • thrombus formation;
  • mental disorders: hysterics, depression, depression, even suicide.

The tolerance of such a harsh fasting system is individual, and not every body can withstand such a serious test. Self-medication and weight loss in this way are strictly prohibited by many doctors.

How often can you use the dry fasting technique?

Dry fasting is not a diet, don’t be confused. Yes, you will lose some weight, but half will return within 1-2 days of coming off. This technique is aimed at healing the body, cleansing internal organs and improving their functioning.

It is recommended to dry fast for 24 hours once a week. Once a month, to prevent the occurrence of various diseases and improve the general condition of the body, you should fast for 28 hours. Long-term dry fasting without prior consultation with a specialist is not recommended, since it is necessary to evaluate all the pros and cons of this technique and identify hidden contraindications so as not to harm yourself.

Indications

Therapeutic dry fasting is recommended if you have the following health problems:

  • atherosclerosis;
  • allergy;
  • infertility, prostate adenoma;
  • bronchitis, bronchial asthma, pneumonia, pulmonary sarcoidosis;
  • helminthiasis;
  • constipation, colitis, ulcer;
  • infections, inflammations;
  • cardiopsychoneurosis;
  • skin diseases;
  • overweight, obesity.
  • osteochondrosis, rheumatoid arthritis, polyarthritis, salt deposits in joints;
  • swelling;
  • cold.

Fasting treatment

What diseases can this practice cure? From the point of view of supporters, therapeutic dry fasting can be carried out with:

  • decreased libido;
  • urethritis;
  • thrush;
  • mastitis;
  • obesity;
  • constipation;
  • colitis;
  • dysbacteriosis;
  • gout, etc.

The system has a positive effect on all functions of the body, and therefore helps well with problems in men’s and women’s health, gastrointestinal problems, disorders in the functioning of the musculoskeletal system, vision, and stage 1 and 2 oncology. The technique restores the coordinated functioning of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. There is a positive effect on the kidneys, skin, hearing, mucous membranes, and blood.

Contraindications

These include:

  • bronchiectasis;
  • exhaustion, underweight (BMI < 20);
  • oncology;
  • renal failure;
  • paroxysmal chronic migraine;
  • problems with the cardiovascular system: poor blood clotting, hypertension, cardiac arrhythmia, previous heart attack;
  • mental illness;
  • diabetes;
  • gout;
  • purulent-inflammatory diseases;
  • thyrotoxicosis;
  • thrombophlebitis;
  • tuberculosis;
  • anemia;
  • liver cirrhosis, hepatitis.

What can you try instead of dry fasting?

There are a huge number of alternative and less harmful diets that can help you lose weight and (importantly) not gain it back. The effectiveness of these options has been confirmed by scientists.

You can also try intermittent fasting. It is based on nutritional principles that not only allow you to get rid of extra pounds without feeling hungry, but also:

  • slow down aging;
  • reduce the risk of many diseases - for example, type II diabetes, cardiovascular disorders and even oncology;
  • improve brain function.

Kinds

Depending on water procedures:

  1. Partial - shower, bath, douches are allowed.
  2. Complete - a categorical ban on any contact with water (you can’t even brush your teeth).

Depending on the methods:

  1. Classic - complete fasting from start to finish.
  2. Combined - alternating dry and water (when you can drink water, but you can’t eat anything) fasting every 3 days or every 1 day.

Depending on the timing:

  1. One-day is the most gentle and accessible to everyone at home (to try your hand).
  2. 36-hour - when apoptosis starts, but the matter does not reach a crisis, it is used exclusively for weight loss and cleansing the body.
  3. Short-term - up to 2 days.
  4. The average is seven days, requiring constant medical monitoring.
  5. Long-term - 21 days.

Depending on the cycles, the process may also be different.

Factional

Involves going through 3 stages (cycles, fractions):

  1. Hunger - 2 weeks.
  2. Restoration of the body on a plant-based diet - 34 days.
  3. Rest (return to normal diet) - 28 days.

The cycle then starts over and repeats three times.

Stepped

Here one stage consists of two stages:

  1. Hunger - until the first symptoms of acidotic crisis (after 5-7 days).
  2. Recovery - exactly half of the time it took to complete the first stage is counted (2-3 days).

This step is repeated 3-4 times until the desired result is achieved (recovery or weight loss).

Cascade / periodic

Cascade dry fasting is considered one of the most gentle and safe for health, as it thoroughly and gradually prepares the body for the upcoming test. Consists of 5 periods:

  1. Hunger - 1 day / recovery (on proper nutrition) - 1 week.
  2. Hunger - 2 days / recovery - 1 week.
  3. Hunger - 3 days / recovery - 1 week.
  4. Hunger - 4 days / recovery - 1 week.
  5. Hunger - 5 days.

There is another option for cascade fasting, but it is more stressful for the body:

  1. Hunger - 1 day / recovery (on proper nutrition) - 2 days.
  2. Hunger - 2 days / recovery - 3 days.
  3. Hunger - 3 days / recovery - 4 days.
  4. Hunger - 4 days / recovery - 5 days.
  5. Hunger - 5 days.

This cascade can only be undertaken by those who have already practiced dry fasting more than once with longer periods for recovery.

Concept and types of dry fasting

Dry fasting means a complete refusal not only from food, but also from water, for at least 36 hours. Of course, many resort to this technique with the main goal - to finally get rid of the hated extra pounds.

There are two SG techniques. Strict is a ban not only on food, but also on water, and on any contact with it (in the form of taking a bath, showering, washing, brushing teeth, etc.). In turn, the gentle SG method allows for minimal human contact with water for hygienic purposes.

Doctors rightly classify both methods not only as unnecessary “extreme” for the body, but also as a dubious area of so-called “alternative medicine,” the ideas of which are deeply unscientific and harmful. The best option is to choose gentler ways to improve your health and lose weight so that the gastrointestinal tract and other organ systems work as efficiently as possible, without severe stress and unnecessary functional disruptions.

Preparation

Theoretical

First, study the material on this issue, weigh the pros and cons. Pay special attention to criticism, possible complications and the consequences that fasting leads to.

If after this the desire to experience this for yourself does not disappear, you need to find a specialist with a medical education who has experience in managing such patients. He will tell you how to prepare, where to start, and will offer to go to his clinic if there is one.

It will also be useful to find those people who have already practiced this and can share their experiences - both negative and positive. A circle of like-minded people will be very helpful. In any difficult situations, they will be able to give advice and dispel doubts.

Moral

Dry fasting puts a huge strain on the psyche. Surviving without water or food for even one day is an incredible challenge. Therefore, the event is recommended only for those who do not suffer from depression. If you are not confident in yourself, you need to first take a course of antidepressants and prepare yourself mentally. The sooner you think about it, the better: the duration of taking such drugs is from 3 weeks (this is the minimum) to several months.

Physical

The body must be carefully prepared for the upcoming test. Strange as it may sound, strength training stops 2-3 weeks before the hunger strike. If the muscles are pumped up, they will be the first to be used up.

But cardio at the preparation stage is welcome, as it strengthens the heart muscle, the load on which will be enormous. Morning jogging, swimming pool, walking, exercises are recommended.

It would also be a good idea to undergo a medical examination to check for contraindications. You are unlikely to get a doctor’s permission, because most doctors will not support such an initiative.

In terms of nutrition

2 weeks before dry fasting, you need to change your diet, because you cannot suddenly stop eating. This is fraught with serious disruptions in the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract. Each category of products should be abandoned gradually:

  • Days 1-2: avoid fatty meat (only chicken remains) and fried foods;
  • 3-4: from sweet pastries, sugar, coffee and alcohol;
  • 5-6: from spicy, pickled, salty, smoked foods, canned food, seasonings, fast food, snacks, carbonated drinks;
  • 7-8: from chicken and fatty fish, store-bought juices;
  • 9-10: from fish and seafood;
  • 11-12: from milk, tea, salt, at this point only products of plant origin should be present in the diet;
  • 13-14: water fasting (you can only drink water).

In addition to gradually eliminating meals, it is necessary to reduce the size of consumed portions every day.

The process of dry fasting is 36 hours.

The recommendations below apply only to health-improving dry fasting from 24 to 36 hours and no more than three days.

The procedure for starting and especially ending a MULTI-DAY fast requires a scrupulous and careful approach, and failure to comply with it can lead to FATAL outcome!

Start of dry fasting 36 hours

  • During the last meal, it is not recommended to overeat and it is advisable to eat easily digestible vegetable, fruit and protein foods, which will provoke further natural bowel movement. Ideally, on the day before starting fasting, eat only such food. Refrain from flour and fatty foods, in particular you should not eat any form of fried food. Such foods can cause stagnation in the intestines and difficulty with bowel movements when breaking the fast.
  • take a shower and brush your teeth. Because for the next 36 hours there will be no contact with water and there will be no opportunity to maintain personal hygiene.

Symptoms during fasting

  • In the early stages there may be slight irritability. On the day of fasting itself, in particular in the first stages, some irritability may occur due to unfamiliarity. This manifestation will go away completely with experience, periodic fasting will only be a pleasure, the body itself will look forward to this day as unloading and rest. Therefore, on this day it is recommended to plan an interesting and exciting activity for yourself, reading literature, watching positive films, any pleasant things. During your first experiences of fasting, it is advisable not to combine these days with work and active communication with people, since you will be focused on completely different processes. After about the 4th or 6th fast, daily life and activities can be easily combined with regular dry fasting of 24-36 hours. You won’t even remember often that you’re starving.

irritability may occur in the early stages of fasting

  • Bad breath.

This manifestation is associated with the processes of decomposition and cleansing in the stomach. This odor cannot be eliminated by brushing and rinsing.

  • Mental and creative activity increases and concentration improves . You will want to take yourself somewhere, so it is recommended that you plan what you will do on the day of fasting.

bad breath appears

  • Thirst.

In case of proper preparation and daily healthy eating and if you already have experience of fasting, then you will practically not feel thirst, especially in the first 24 hours. For those new to fasting, thirst can actively manifest itself, but over time the body gets used to it and the strong need passes.

  • Dizziness, headaches and nausea

Such symptoms are associated with high levels of sludge in the body. During fasting, all accumulated toxic substances are eliminated through the blood and therefore their high concentration can cause the symptoms noted above. In this regard, sudden movements should be avoided, however, light physical activity at this time is encouraged, as it promotes blood movement and the removal of harmful substances.

You may feel dizzy

  • Dark urine. Rare urination will occur even if you are in the process of dry fasting. On the one hand, this is a good symptom, since it indicates that the body is truly in cleansing mode. Urine should darken noticeably during this period.

Exit from dry fasting 36 hours

During fasting, all toxins and harmful substances are eliminated through urination and excretion of feces, which accumulate in the lower intestines. Because to prevent the removed harmful substances from being absorbed into the blood again through the intestinal walls, it is necessary to cleanse the intestines before the first meal. To do this, you need to drink one liter of water, after dissolving in it one tablespoon of salt and freshly squeezed or squeezed juice of one lemon. This mixture will not allow water to be absorbed in the stomach due to the salt content. In about 1.5-2 hours, the liquid will pass through the entire stomach and intestines, rinse and completely remove all toxins from the intestines. During elimination, a natural process will occur, without pain in the stomach and intestines. This cleansing procedure is much more comfortable and complete compared to cleansing the intestines with an enema.

To cleanse the intestines, it is recommended to drink salt water with lemon juice

After intestinal cleansing, you can take a shower and start your first meal. It is not advisable to immediately load the body with large amounts of food. It is recommended to eat the same way as during an extreme meal: vegetable salad, easily digestible porridge (oatmeal, buckwheat) and other easily digestible protein foods.

The first meal after fasting should be light

Dry fasting is a unique, highly effective and naturally natural way of cleansing and rejuvenating the body at the physical, cellular psychological and spiritual levels, which does not require any external intervention in the initially perfect system of our body.

Author's methods

According to Shchennikov

Author: Leonid Aleksandrovich Shchennikov is a practitioner who set a record for dry fasting, abstaining from food and water for 21 days. The treatment center is located in Kislovodsk and has been operating for 30 years.

Peculiarities:

  • scheme: 36-hour fast / 2 days break / 2 days fast / 2 breaks / 3 days fast / exit;
  • water procedures are allowed;
  • ban on enemas.

Shchennikov also insists on strict adherence to a certain daily schedule:

  • 06.00-10.00 - morning sleep;
  • 10.00-13.00 - fresh air (walks, yoga);
  • 13.00-15.00 - “brainstorming” (work);
  • 15.00-18.00 - physical activity;
  • 18.00-22.00 - evening sleep;
  • 22.00-06.00 - fresh air (walks).

The Shchennikov method is good because it offers a gentle fasting scheme and methodological assistance in its organization (courses are held, you can visit a treatment center). However, the schedule he recommends to his patients is practically incompatible with the modern lifestyle.

According to Filonov

Author: Sergey Ivanovich Filonov is a doctor who deals with dry fasting for the treatment of various diseases. Wellness in Altai.

Peculiarities:

  • any water procedures are allowed;
  • Enemas, castor oil and magnesium sulfate are recommended to cleanse the intestines;
  • during the recovery period between fasts - a plant-based diet.

It was he who developed the cascade dry fasting (both long-term and short-term) - see the diagram above.

According to Yakub

Author: Anna Yakuba - Ukrainian expert on dry fasting. Personally practices a 7-day fast. Founder of the online school “Mriya” (“Dream”).

Peculiarities:

  • an integrated approach to spiritual and physical health;
  • mandatory part - meditation and auto-training as a preparatory stage;
  • mastering the principles of proper nutrition for competent organization of breaks between hunger strikes;
  • development of individual physical development programs including race walking, joint gymnastics, yoga, and breathing practices.

The proposed scheme: 1 day of hunger strike / 1 day of raw food diet for 15 days and another 2 weeks are allocated for recovery.

According to Lavrova

Author: Valentina Pavlovna Lavrova is more of a theorist than a practitioner. She has written books that describe in detail dry fasting schemes. The clinic, which is based on her methodology, is a self-health clinic in Orenburg. Some of the schemes she proposes are nothing more than the Filonov cascades discussed above. She simply supplemented them, expanded them and introduced some prohibitions.

Peculiarities:

  • ban on any water procedures;
  • The maximum duration of a hunger strike is 5 days.

Scheme:

  • Period I: day of hunger - day of food. The duration of alternations is unlimited.
  • Period II: 2 days of fasting - 2 days of eating. Again, there are no time limits.
  • III period: 3 through 3. Duration - who can withstand how long.
  • IV period: 4 days - without water and food, 4 days of diet. No repetitions.
  • V period: 5 days - abstinence, 5 - proper nutrition. No repetitions.

The disadvantage of Lavrova’s method is the ban on water procedures.

Benefit

Despite the complete refusal of water and food during dry fasting for 36 hours, 3 days or any other time, the system provides enormous benefits to the body:

  • Elimination of inflammatory processes. During fasting, the body feels a lack of fluid. Dehydration forces healthy cells to fight pathogenic microorganisms for life-giving moisture. As a result, harmful bacteria are defeated and die - inflammation goes away.
  • Acceleration of metabolism. As a result of the activation of metabolism, all toxins, breakdown products and other bad elements are quickly and effectively eliminated from the body. In addition, fast metabolism means active fat burning, leading to weight loss.
  • Strengthening the immune system. The body's protective functions are restored.
  • “Reboot” of the hormonal system. Production of beneficial hormones necessary for muscle growth and overall health of the body.
  • Prevention of malignant neoplasms, edema, vascular plaques and adhesions.
  • Blood purification. No harmful substances enter the body with food. The blood is filtered several times. The result is improved biochemical composition.
  • Pronounced rejuvenating effect. The structure of the skin improves. Acne and small pustules disappear. The regeneration process is faster.

Interesting fact. Not all of the positive benefits of dry fasting are scientifically proven. From a medical point of view, today only the benefits of refusing food and water for the pancreas have been proven.

Recommendations

Rule #1

There is nothing to eat. It is recommended not to even inhale the smell of the food. Taking medications is also prohibited.

Rule #2

Do not drink anything and do not come into contact with water at all: do not take a bath or shower, do not go to baths and saunas, try not to get exposed to rain, do not swim. The restriction even applies to hand washing and mouth rinsing.

Additional Tips

  1. At home, dry fasting should not last more than 2 days. Longer periods are carried out under the supervision of a doctor.
  2. The body must be provided with sufficient oxygen. To do this, spend as much time as possible outdoors. Ideally - in a forest area, at a resort, in a mountainous area, in an environmentally friendly area.
  3. The premises should be ventilated several times a day. The ideal option is ozonation.
  4. Try to fill your day with exclusively positive emotions. There should be no stress or nervous breakdowns.
  5. If you have trouble sleeping, try aromatherapy.

To improve the final result, it is recommended to use various weight loss techniques and alternative medicine:

  • balneotherapy;
  • colon hydrotherapy;
  • hypoxia;
  • hirudotherapy;
  • homeopathy;
  • acupuncture;
  • method of volitional holding of breath, etc.

If symptoms such as headache, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, fainting do not go away within 24 hours, stop the hunger strike and sign up for a medical examination.

Indications and contraindications

Indications:

  • stones in the gall bladder, kidneys;
  • elevated cholesterol levels;
  • bronchial asthma;
  • hypertension;
  • vegetative-vascular dystonia;
  • oncology in the initial stages;
  • decreased immunity;
  • severe intoxication of the body;
  • excess weight;
  • swelling;
  • hepatitis;
  • angina pectoris and other diseases.

Contraindications:

  • pregnancy, lactation;
  • weight deficiency;
  • kidney diseases;
  • thrombosis, thrombophlebitis, hemophilia;
  • problems with the central nervous system, traumatic brain injury, encephalitis, toxoplasmosis;
  • hypothyroidism, thyrotoxicosis;
  • oncology in an advanced state;
  • rehabilitation after radiation and chemotherapy;
  • age up to 9 years.

Despite the fact that Shchennikov’s method is simple and can be practiced at home, it is not recommended to do this without consulting a specialized specialist. All indications and contraindications are relative. Each body may react differently. Therefore, it is best to contact Leonid Aleksandrovich himself (contacts are available on the official website of his center) and consult with him. Or get permission for this method of recovery from your attending physician.

Exit

To avoid undesirable health consequences, it is necessary to ensure a gradual exit from dry fasting. It should be like this regardless of whether you have gone through all the cycles and stages to the end or stopped in the middle of the path.

If you immediately eat to satiety, the digestive system after a long rest is overloaded, this provokes an outflow of blood from vital organs. The result is sudden cardiac arrest. The state in which a person is in the first 2-3 days after abstaining from food and water is called “feeding recovery syndrome.”

How to get out of dry fasting correctly:

  • Day 1: starting from 1 tbsp. l. water, increase its volume by 1 tbsp every hour. l.;
  • Day 2: drink 100 ml of water every hour, in the morning - weak green tea without any additives, at lunch - 100 ml of low-fat chicken broth, for dinner - any juice diluted with water;
  • Day 3: drink 150 ml of water every hour, in the morning - a fermented milk drink, for lunch - vegetable puree soup, for dinner - a cocktail or smoothie;
  • starting from day 4, you can gradually include solid food, but first of plant origin.

The main rule of exit is small portions of water and food with gradual increase. On average, a complete transition to a normal diet takes 2-3 weeks. With proper organization of the process, you can lose about 8-10 more kg, since you will have to eat low-calorie foods.

Dry fasting: contraindications

People with serious heart disease, tuberculosis or anemia should not do dry fasting. If, nevertheless, a person doubts and feels the strength to carry out a regular fast on water, then it is advisable to first consult with a doctor, and if the condition allows for fasting, then you can start it.

During the 36-hour dry fast we described, negative processes are unlikely to occur, such as weakening of muscles and a decrease in blood cells, which can lead to anemia or a decrease in the supply of vitamins and minerals in the body.

All this can only happen with very long fasting practices, so there is no need to dwell on this in detail. A 36-hour dry fast is usually safe if you are well prepared for it, and don’t just jump right off the bat after a meat diet and donuts, with dirty intestines, abruptly stopping food and water intake, and end the fast with the same abrupt exit, first thing eating a cutlet with fried potatoes on the side.

This approach definitely guarantees that problems will arise both during the fast and after it. But our readers will carefully study the article and other materials related to dry fasting, so we have no doubt that your first experience of 36-hour dry fasting will certainly bring positive results.

Dry fasting is without a doubt one of the most effective weight loss techniques. However, it is worth thinking about the fact that all the supposedly “scientific” principles that explain its benefits are actively criticized by official medicine and are not confirmed, but are at the stage of hypotheses. Cases when people achieved excellent results with its help both in weight loss and in terms of health improvement are rare. To do this, they spent years developing a system of abstinence from food and water, and competently prepared the body for this.

Most attempts end in, at best, disturbances in the functioning of the stomach, and at worst, serious complications and hospitalization. This should give anyone thinking about losing weight in such an extreme way something to think about before making such an important decision.

What actually happens when the body doesn't have enough water

The person actually loses weight. Fast and with a guarantee. True, not for long: such fluctuations in body weight are associated with fluid loss, and as soon as the drinking regime is restored, the kilograms will return.

This is where the scientifically proven (albeit conditional) benefits of dry fasting end. And the continuous disadvantages begin.

Much more has been written about the dangers of not drinking fluids. Water is the most important part of all metabolic processes in our body. If there is not enough of it, metabolism slows down, and the brain is the first to suffer. Why Your Brain Needs Water. Here are the symptoms that will hit you on the first day:

  • dizziness;
  • headache;
  • unmotivated fatigue;
  • impaired concentration.

Further symptoms will only get worse. Doctors warn Dehydration that the following are possible:

  • heat injury up to and including life-threatening heat stroke;
  • the occurrence of problems with the kidneys and bladder;
  • convulsions up to loss of consciousness caused by disruption of the transmission of nerve signals;
  • drop in blood pressure;
  • disruption of oxygen supply to internal organs.

In general, dry fasting is an extreme practice, whose benefits have not been scientifically proven, but the harm is quite obvious. Of course, Lifehacker cannot prevent you from trying this on yourself. But before you start, at least consult your therapist.

Carrying out fasting

The duration of refusal of water and food may vary, depending on the chosen program. In the first stages, doctors recommend trying a one-day course of dry fasting. Then we take a week break and go through a three-day system. The next step is 7 days of fasting. Then you can implement more stringent and lengthy schemes, which give a pronounced result.

During dietary and fluid restrictions, it is important to pay special attention to leisure time. There should be no free time. It is advisable to spend it walking in the fresh air. You should refuse to work during the diet period. The best solution is to buy a ticket to a sanatorium or go to a dacha, where in the middle of nature the process will be much more comfortable, enjoyable and without unnecessary disruptions. There should be no irritating factors around - only peace, beauty and comfort.

The effect of fasting on the body as a whole

In addition to the effect of weight loss, rejuvenation and treatment of diseases, people who practice dry fasting also note the following results.

Thus, human skin is an excellent excretory organ, through which toxins and other substances not needed for life are released along with sweat. During the practice of hunger, this ability acquires the opposite effect - the body absorbs the lack of fluid through the skin. And the skin can even receive it from the air, so during fasting you need to carefully choose the place where it will take place and monitor your contacts with the environment. An interesting result of the manifestation of the absorption properties of the skin appears after touching the products - their taste can be felt in the mouth. And regular training allows you to check cooked food “for salt” only with your hands.

Another feature of the effect of dry fasting is training willpower. When a person regularly undergoes this procedure, a firm determination to complete the work he has begun develops, and it is transferred to all areas of life. Intuition is heightened, and some people, after undergoing long courses of hunger, even develop telepathic abilities.

Variety of techniques

The safest options for doing it yourself are methods that involve fasting for up to 3 days. Longer periods without drinking liquid require the participation of specialists and medical supervision. This is due to the possibility of dehydration of the body, which is very dangerous for its vital functions.

It makes no sense to conduct dry fasting sessions for less than a day, since the body’s hidden capabilities to use reserve forces begin to appear only after twenty hours of abstinence from water and food. That is, only after this time does the positive effect of the procedure occur.

The main methods assume the following periods of fasting:

  • one-day (24 hours);
  • 36-hour (night-day-night);
  • 3 days;
  • 5 days;
  • 7 days;
  • 9 or 11 days.

For the purpose of general improvement of the body, as well as for the purpose of reducing body weight, as a rule, courses lasting from one to three days are used, which are repeated regularly - weekly, every other week or monthly.

It happens that they conduct courses of combined fasting: a three-day dry fast is chosen, after which water is introduced into the diet. This subtype is less dangerous in terms of consequences, and its tolerance by the body is much better, since it allows you to avoid dehydration.

What is the best time to choose when planning to start dry fasting? Reviews from those who regularly conduct these sessions indicate that short periods are easier to bear psychologically and are easier to withstand physically, however, fasting for more than three days has the greatest therapeutic effect.

The body tolerates dry fasting more easily, since there is no feeling of intense hunger, and it is psychologically easier to withstand such short periods. However, for dry fasting to really bring benefits, you should approach it consciously, thoroughly prepare and go through it carefully.

Fasting frequency

There are no special recommendations for the number of fasts. It all depends on your goals and actual physical condition. Experts give the following recommendations:

  • For comprehensive cleansing of the body, prevention, rejuvenation and treatment of various chronic diseases, fasting lasting from 24 to 48 hours per week is most effective. In this case, it is important to maintain regularity.
  • If you have serious illnesses, then the issue of fasting must be approached individually. In the absence of time restrictions, naturopaths recommend starting with a daily refusal of food and water every week, gradually increasing its duration. Breaks between fasts should take place within the framework of a plant-based diet. In this case, SG is performed strictly under the supervision of the attending physician.

Interesting fact. Not only about contraindications, but also the duration, you should consult your doctor. As part of the examination, the specialist will determine the appropriate method and optimal timing for comfortable therapy.

Preparatory stage

Dry fasting requires careful preparation. It is important to consider several key points during the process:

  • Cleansing the body. Before fasting, it is necessary to remove metabolic products and harmful substances from the intestines, liver and kidneys.
  • Preliminary fasting experience. Before trying dry fasting, you need to go through several wet fasts, which involve drinking liquid. This way you will know how the body reacts to changes and what to prepare for in the process.
  • Fasting days. You should not eat heavy food directly before fasting. A few days before completely refusing to eat and drink, we exclude fish, meat, dairy products, milk and eggs from the diet. It is advisable to give preference to fresh vegetables, fruits and herbs during this period. The “lighter” the foods at the preparatory stage, the easier and more comfortable the fasting will be.
  • Emptying the bowels before fasting. The very last meal before you stop eating should stimulate bowel movements. A fresh vegetable salad with vegetable oil works great in this case. It is desirable that the process proceed naturally. If for some reason this does not happen, then you can use an enema.

Methods of Shchennikov and Lavrova

One of the main long-term techniques was described by Leonid Shchennikov. Dry fasting according to his method is the prevention of any pathologies, as a result there is a complete refusal of medications and the immune system is restored. The basis of his technique is that for two days before entering the famine, you need to eat only raw vegetables.

After such preparation, a fasting session begins, which takes place over different periods - from five to seven days to a record eleven days. And at this stage there is a distinctive feature - staying awake at night in combination with cold baths. Otherwise, everything is as usual - smooth movements combined with peace of mind are the key to success. Exiting the session correctly is important.

Cascade dry fasting is represented by the technique described by Valentina Pavlovna Lavrova. Course duration varies. Cascade fasting is based on periods of “dry fasting” and “food”. At the same time, during the “meal” period, a certain diet is maintained. There are different versions of cascades - “gentle”, “short”, “according to Lavrova”, “cautious”, etc. This variety is based on different initial preparations of the body, and even a beginner will be able to choose a suitable “cascade”.

One general rule for all options is that the period of dry fasting does not last longer than five days. It is believed that this period allows one to reveal the incredible capabilities of the human body. A person approaches a five-day fast gradually: starting with one day of dry fasting and with breaks for “food” of varying duration, the body prepares for the main session of 5 days.

Indications for urgent exit

The tolerance of a hunger strike depends on many factors. One person may make it to the end, while another may need an early exit. The body itself tells you whether this practice can be continued further.

Even supporters of hunger as a treatment method, who are not too divorced from reality, recommend paying attention to the following symptoms:

  • the disappearance of plaque on the tongue, which inevitably covers it at first;
  • brightening of the eye sclera;
  • clarification of urine;
  • change in the smell of any natural secretions;
  • sudden weight loss (500 g per day or more).

Fans of fasting believe that it ceases to be therapeutic after these signs appear. Opponents are sure that the body is signaling that it can no longer stand it. In any case, it’s time to return to normal nutrition according to the scheme described above.

Prolonged fasting

Dry fasting for 3 days or more is called long-term and requires much more energy from the body. It poses serious health risks, so you will need to devote much more time to the preparatory stage. Be sure to conduct at least one session of short-term fasting before this, then it will be easier to carry out dry fasting for 3 days, the results will be much better. This will also allow you to understand the body’s reaction and prepare it for the serious stress of a long session.

In addition to the basic procedures described above, during the preparation stage you will need to visit a doctor, have your teeth treated and rule out other current diseases. Schedule the time during the period of hunger in advance almost minute by minute, set clear long-term goals (why you decided to do dry fasting), reviews of people who practice it regularly, study and take away important points for yourself.

Two weeks before the planned entry, stop eating animal products - meat, fish, milk and eggs. Ideally, switch to a raw food diet, but you can limit yourself to vegetarian cuisine.

When practicing dry fasting for 7 days, you may encounter some difficulties. For example, an exacerbation of chronic diseases may occur. But there is no need to be afraid of this - this is how the body begins to heal itself. If you experience severe pain characteristic of your chronic disease, you should not take medications. This is exactly what you need to be prepared for psychologically. If you cannot endure the pain, you should stop the session early, naturally, following all the rules for exiting it.

If your body is heavily polluted or if you are overweight, you should be prepared for nausea, vomiting and headaches. This is a natural reaction of the body in this case. Walking in the fresh air or dousing yourself with cool water will have a positive effect at this moment.

During sudden movements, dizziness may occur, so all movements will need to be performed as slowly as possible.

Exiting long periods of hunger should be done more carefully and the body should be loaded very carefully.

Contraindications for fasting sessions

There are several categories of people who are most likely to experience the harm of dry fasting. Moreover, conducting these experiments with their own body is simply contraindicated for them. This category includes:

  • Children under 14 years old.
  • Old people (after 70 years).
  • Women during pregnancy and lactation.
  • People with severe underweight.
  • People with established circulatory failure (2-3rd degree), heart rhythm disturbances.
  • People with pathologies of the endocrine system.

There are a number of other diseases for which dry fasting is strictly contraindicated, so if you decide to take such a step, you should definitely consult with specialists.
