“I gave up refined carbs and white sugar, and the first week was terrible - I had headaches, I was sleepy and irritable. It turned out that I was addicted to sugar and had terrible withdrawal symptoms!” — Kelly Crosby, 33, lost 50 pounds in 8 months and ran her first marathon in April 2014

Personal experience: how I lost 25 kilograms and learned to love my body

TV presenter, artist and co-author of the #Romanovs100 project Anna Fedorova does not photoshop her images on Instagram, quite the opposite: she openly shares with her subscribers the story of her conscious weight loss.
Three years ago, when Anya was 30 years old, she gave birth to a beautiful daughter, Kira. The pregnancy left the young mother with almost 30 new kilograms, which prevented the healthy and active Anya from leading her usual life. Within a year, she lost all the extra pounds, and then gained seven again. Now Fedorova has learned to listen to her body, take care of it, and most importantly, love it. Especially for SPLETNIK.RU Anya told her story in detail. I have never been “thin and loud,” but I liked the way I looked between S and M. Fit and athletic: height 170 centimeters, weight 65 kilos. She ate normally, trained normally, slept normally and worked very hard. And then she got pregnant.

I so dreamed of being the sweet yoga mom that they show on Instagram - a long-legged beauty in leggings, bracelets and a ball in front. What is it! I was forbidden to move on pain of losing the child for the entire nine months. And I lay down. Lying down is very boring. I started eating, eating the worst toxicosis for 17 weeks (it's like a very bad hangover that lasts around the clock for several months). At some point, for example, I discovered that the nausea subsided from sweet soda... To be brief, I gained 30 kilograms. THIRTY. The number on the scale was approaching a hundred. And it wasn’t heavy muscle, but light fat—a lot of light fat.

Before pregnancy and after

I remember looking longingly at my pre-pregnancy APC miniskirt, which now only fit on one hip. All the old clothes seemed like dolls: in desperation I gave away some cashmere sweaters, dresses... I thought I’d never fit into them. I wore leggings and hoodies in pellets. A mistake, of course. You can look great at any weight, although my experience has shown me that dressing a large body is much more expensive. But how luxurious my friends who can do this look!

Immediately after giving birth, life began to improve, I felt better, at least some strength appeared - I learned to walk again. I tried to go for a run and realized that I would destroy my knees. It was almost impossible to do yoga; the simplest poses with such weight were given with titanic difficulty. It became clear that before training I would need to lose weight and go on a diet. I hate diets! I don't believe in them!

Why don't I believe in diets? Because they do not give long-term results, they are traumatic, and disorders may appear - both psychological and physical. I began to study nutrition systems and remote nutritional adjustment practices. I found a system that suited me, signed up, paid and it started. It seemed to me that I knew everything: sweets and starchy foods are evil, whole grains and avocados are good. It turned out that not really... In my case, when I was facing extreme weight loss (we're talking about 25 kilograms), the daily portion of an avocado was half an avocado. A serving of nuts is four nuts per day. And so on - ad infinitum.

All the foods that I thought were healthy (crisps, protein bars, low-fat yogurt) turned out to be wolves in sheep's clothing. The biggest discovery for me was intervalism: in order to achieve results, you need to keep a small interval between meals and not go hungry. But each meal should be balanced: here is my protein, here are my fats (yes, I can’t go anywhere without them!), here is my carbohydrate (hello, quinoa and buckwheat, bye, white rice, pasta and white bread). When you eat a balanced meal, you feel better and there is no danger of attacking the refrigerator at night.

Alcohol had to be eliminated: it retains water, it contains a lot of sugar, and it interferes with training. But the coolest thing about taking care of your body is that you so quickly begin to feel a surge of strength from healthy food and exercise that you don’t want to interfere with this with alcohol and cigarettes.

I’m such a great guy now, I’m talking about self-love and body positivity, but then, three years ago, I was incredibly embarrassed about my new body because of my profession as a presenter. When I did stories and went on air, my colleagues said that “my new cheeks really suit me.” I knew that they were saying something different behind my back. This situation also helped me understand my attitude towards myself through my work, which I have been doing for more than ten years. My eyes were opened to my narcissism.

We can safely say that my way of thinking has changed, and my body has also improved. Perhaps for the first time in my life, I didn't feel beautiful or ugly because I was told that I was. I stopped reflecting other people’s opinions and began to slowly build my own, from the inside.

This is the most important point of my article: love yourself. The gratitude I felt for my body was like nothing else. It's like euphoria and peace at the same time. When everything worked out with pregnancy and childbirth, I realized that these thick thighs with stretch marks are the best, the stomach is the best, and the arms are the best. And even second and third chins are the best. This is the push that made my path to small volume possible. Nothing works through hatred.

The kilograms and volume were gone in six months. And I never suffered, I didn’t want to “break down”, because everything I did was self-care, not punishment. That year, I not only lost excess weight, I regained faith in myself, began to trust myself and learned to love myself for who I am.

I slowly introduced all foods, including junk food, into my diet, and over the course of two years my weight slowly crept up. As soon as I noticed this (I stopped lying to myself that my jeans were shrinking), I said goodbye to sweets, returned to the yoga studio (at least three times a week) and within two months I was back in my favorite shape.

What helped me the most on my path to being healthy was the support of my loved ones. This summer, my #Romanovs100 colleagues became my support (we found and sold four thousand photographs from the Romanovs’ personal archive; it turns out that the whole family were photo enthusiasts!) - our team let me go to training during the day and encouraged me with the choice of lunch. They didn’t give me shawarma instead of salad, they were good ones, and they didn’t share fries.

To summarize, I can say the following: everyone has their own body, it is beautiful in any absolute form, I say this as an artist and a great connoisseur of naked bodies. If you decide to change form, first love yourself in the present moment. I deliberately did not focus on what exactly I ate or did not eat, because my diet may not suit you, and this needs to be discussed with specialists. Love yourself, exercise, eat and drink what makes you better, and share your success with those who love you.

Polina Gagarina

It took Russian vocalist Polina Gagarina 6 months to say goodbye to 40 kg of excess weight after the birth of her son. The singer began to lose weight for the sake of an advantage in music ratings. Strict diets did not give results. Then the star developed her own nutrition plan for herself.

She alternated monoration days, among which the table included boiled brown rice, chicken breast, baked vegetables or dairy products. 30 kilograms was hard, and then a restructuring of the body occurred and another 10 kg suddenly disappeared.

Unlike her colleagues in the shop, Polina Gagarina now maintains her body parameters, but does not go on diets, but only adheres to proper nutrition and goes to the gym.

Stage 4. Diet again and childbirth again

I returned to a popular diet that had already helped me once. A year later I was 63 kg. Then a powerful incentive appeared: my husband and I decided to get married. I wanted to be the most beautiful at this celebration. Soon after the wedding I became pregnant again, and after 9 months I was again 93 kg. I spent the next year trying to lose weight. 73 is my minimum. Again I tried a bunch of diets, sports, calorie counting, “don’t eat after 6” and everything I could think of. I alternated between not eating and throwing myself at the food, giving up on the weight! And again in a circle...

Maxim Fadeev

The “weighty” producer of Russian show business Maxim Fadeev has lost 100 kg. As a life hack, the artist named 600 ml of warm water, which should be drunk 3 times a day before meals. Among the celebrity's theses there is also physical activity on a treadmill. The artist emphasized that he lost weight without suffering.

A full list of recommendations from Fadeev has not yet been received, but fans are clearly intrigued by the changes before and after the transformation.

Stage 2. Mistakes at the beginning of the journey

I tried many diets, but the weight still came back, and with interest. We have already talked about a girl who lost her health due to popular diets. I searched for a doctor for a long time, scoured the entire Internet. I am glad that I found a wonderful doctor, Alexandra Shvets, and came to see her. She examined me, gave recommendations, after which I passed all the tests and began to change my lifestyle and diet.
