Hearing the funny word “Zumba”, associations immediately arise with fiery Latin American dances - rumba, samba, mambo. But what is it really? Ritual dances of African tribes? A spell in the ancient language of the Taino Indians - the indigenous inhabitants of Cuba? Or maybe this is the name of a funny character from a cartoon?
Translated from Spanish, “zumba” is a bell, a rattle; ringing, crackling, buzzing; mockery, joke. And it was this word that fitness instructor Alberto Perez decided to name the training program he invented to the bright rhythms of Latin American music.
What is Zumba in fitness?
Unlike the South American rumba, whose history goes back about 100 years, Zumba is a fairly young “dance”. The main idea of this fitness program is a healthy lifestyle combined with active training to the rhythm of dance music.
Zumba is an effective system for maintaining muscle tone:
- Firstly
, the training is carried out to the rhythms of popular Latin American music, which guarantees an excellent mood and a positive attitude. - Secondly
, Zumba is a group class, thanks to which energy impulses are transferred from one participant to another, thereby providing a more effective result. - Thirdly
, a “cocktail” of the most popular fitness movements and elements of hip-hop, tango, as well as incendiary African and Latin American dances, helps to engage all muscle groups, which, in turn, guarantees rapid burning of calories.
Each training session lasts on average 1 hour. How many times a week do you exercise? It all depends on your preparedness and desire to train - in order to lose weight, once a week, of course, is catastrophically not enough, but to keep your body in good shape is quite enough.
Don't forget that, despite the fun and relaxed atmosphere during classes, Zumba is still a form of fitness, and not just entertainment. Therefore, do not neglect the instructor’s recommendations and make sure that any elements of the dance are performed correctly.

I usually do fitness following Jillian Michaels' programs, but one day I decided to diversify my training diet and try dancing. I don’t have time to go to a dance studio—I have a small child—so I started looking for tutorial videos to practice at home.
I don’t have any dance experience, I’m not flexible, I’m even “wooden,” frankly speaking, and I couldn’t learn the basics of hip-hop, go-go and other styles on my own. Frustrated, I came across Zumba and fell in love after the first class.
Zumba, in my opinion, is suitable for those who are used to doing physical exercises and feel insecure dancing. It is somewhat similar to aerobics, but very fiery, cheerful, and even when your heart is already jumping out of your chest, you remain with a smile on your face.
This is a great, fun cardio workout! I recommend to all. Just find a video that suits you - fortunately, there are plenty of materials on the Internet - and practice. Good luck!

If you dance Zumba with Beto at least once, then you simply won’t stop. And you don’t need to be a professional in the field of salsa, hip-hop, belly dancing, etc., just dance for yourself and you won’t notice how you will be at the highest level later . There is also Zumba for beginners, where they describe the basic steps in more detail. Then it’s more complicated, but everything will work out in due time. The main thing is, try it! I would also like to note that in Zumba all parts of the body are worked out. Calories are burned very well, because... a lot of cardio. And Zumba, a good replacement for the gym. You won’t notice how your legs will become delicious, your buttocks will be elastic and your arms will be sculpted. Their music is simply amazing and for every taste. You will want to dance only after listening to their songs!) Zumba, which is available on torrents in English, is well received, because Beto is Spanish himself. There are simply no shortcomings and never will be! Good luck to all beginners!

Advantages:
training gives you joy and a positive attitude, muscles get stronger while dancing
Flaws:
the body hurts, especially the waist and buttocks
I won’t lie, I also took Zumba classes at home, a trend that is fashionable by today’s standards. If anyone remembers, the women’s channel was broadcasting advertisements with Tanya and another curly-haired girl from Latin America. Spring was just waking up outside, and in the evenings I sadly watched my shapeless body swell. The word was not known to me. I found a couple of lessons on a well-known social network, because it didn’t exist anymore at that time. People had no idea what kind of discipline this was. I remember five people dancing Zumba in a purple-blue room. I joined at home too. I remember how after a few minutes I came out to my husband, all wet and smiling from ear to ear. He became wary, and I told him everything. Then, as soon as I caught my breath, I went back to continuing my lesson. The meaning is simple. You need to try to repeat the movements of the instructors to the best of your ability through video lessons. The group from the screens energetically danced salsa, samba, quebradita and even flamenco. I learned so many dances then. I continued to perform the movements and somehow decided to film myself. I thought I was already a pro, but I moved weakly, uncertainly, stumbled and all movements were constrained. Oh, I laughed at myself and decided that I’d had enough and I wouldn’t achieve the professionalism I wanted. So, after two months of dancing every day for an hour, I gave up on this matter. I won’t hide the fact that I noticed my growing waist. The oblique muscles were very painful due to the many bends to the sides and the buttock area. I can't say anything about the legs. They did not lose weight, but their muscles became strong and strengthened. I was able to walk briskly for an hour without getting out of breath. Of all the activities, I note that the most productive for myself: 1. this is filming the first Zumba concert in a small hall surrounded by people led by the founder of this dance movement. 2. cardio training. There is also an American cowboy dance. 3. and concert “Extra” with Chinese, Oriental, Indian dances. Now every third woman around the world practices this method, which through dancing brings a slim and toned body, as well as a good mood.

Hello to everyone who cares about their figure, I think there are many of them! Who is tired of monotonous repetitions in training? This is for you! Start dancing Zumba and lose weight, you won’t even notice how. while dancing, you will lose extra pounds and get in a great mood, another bonus is that after dancing, I don’t know why you don’t feel like eating! Can you imagine?
I’ve been doing it for a year now, every other day, time flies by, all the muscles are affected, but of course it’s more of an aerobic exercise, I wasn’t particularly full. but losing a couple of kilograms and tightening up helped me!
So don’t waste time, dance and lose weight! Chiseled figures for everyone!

Just recently I came across Zumba with Beto. I tried almost all the workouts. I liked it. Now, if you want to do aerobics, I give preference to Zumba.
The most affordable workouts with two girls Tanya and Gina Activate and Mix with Beto and Tanya. The first one is purely dance aerobics: salsa, mamba, reggaeton, etc. 40 minutes of fun dancing. It’s especially good to do in the morning, then music plays in your head all day.
The second workout is a mix of different dance styles for 5 minutes. You don't have time to get bored, but you can sweat. The rest of the workouts with dumbbells, with a chair, I couldn’t cope with something. Too fast, some jerky movements, it seems that now the hip will dislocate or the arm will come off, in general, I don’t take risks anymore. Strength training is enough with other instructors: Karen Voigt, Cindy Whitmarsh, Cindy Crawford, Tamilee Web.

Hi all:)
I’ve been dancing since I was 5 years old, I’ve been doing something all my life: folk, ballroom, aerobics, zumba. I was always interested in Latin motifs, but basically everywhere they taught paired Latin(

I learned about Zumba quite by accident when I started learning Spanish. I listened to the songs, tried to translate, and realized that I was a big fan of reggaton. Having started to watch and look for some information about this type of dance, I somehow came across a video with a Zumba training. And I realized that this is exactly what I had been looking for for so long.

At its core, ZUMBA is a fitness program, it originated in Colombia, the founder is Alberto Perez.
In simple terms, Zumba is rhythmic movements to Latin music, but these movements and elements are taken from various directions of salsa, rumba, merengue, and reggaton.
At the end of the twentieth century, a fitness instructor at one of the gyms in Columbia forgot a music disc for conducting classes, and therefore he had to use the compositions that he had in his car. His students really liked the lesson, which prompted Perez to conduct a series of training sessions for clients with this musical accompaniment. This is exactly how a new fitness trend began its triumphant movement across the planet - Zumba.
If in South and North America this movement began to gain popularity back in the 90s, then it reached our continent quite recently. And if it is already quite popular in Europe, it has only recently made its way to the CIS countries.

In total, I have been doing Zumba for 4 years. At first, I started studying using all sorts of videos that I found on YouTube, usually it was 10-15 minutes. Two such videos will give you a boost of energy and fun for the whole day! Later I started going to groups.
The coach plays a huge role in training!
My criteria for a good trainer (they will also be useful to you if you are planning or in the future want to become a Zumba instructor):
► The trainer should be a cheerful person ) There is no place for boring and sad people, although I don’t know a single person who would remain sad after an hour of Zumba, or what about an hour after the first couple of songs.
► Sociable. A trainer who stupidly demonstrates movements for 45 minutes - an hour, without communicating with the group in any way, will not go far. The team always needs to be encouraged, entertained to some extent, and simply asked if everything is clear to everyone, if everything is working out.
► Not intrusive. You don’t want your sociability to turn into obsession! We are all different, and if someone on this day is not as energetic and cheerful as usual, there is no need to run up and encourage him after every song!
► Energetic. A person must carry this energy within himself and pass it on to his wards. If I see that the coach is not passionate about his work, and just came to work on his skills, then I will not come to him again.
► It is important that the coach listens to the group , asks whether they like the general musical direction, and accepts suggestions for compositions.
►Change the program at least once every two months . Who liked playing 10 of the same compositions for half a year?
During the entire training period, I had 6 different trainers, not counting some video lessons. I have been to some of them a couple of times, to others I always want to return, no matter how the training ends. One of my favorites was coach Pyshechka, she received a coaching certificate while on maternity leave and immediately came to teach. Although she looked the least attractive from the point of view that this is still fitness, and the profession obliges you to conform at least a little, everyone loved her very much, she lit up and her endurance could be the envy of most of our skinny girls in the group.
Zumba has no age restrictions, for example in the Czech Republic there are groups for the youngest, for school age, for middle age, for the elderly. All of them vary in power load and complexity of the elements. Men can do it too! So if in your city there are only groups for girls 15-25 years old, then it’s time for you to get a certificate and go earn money, since this is a huge unoccupied niche! But don’t forget to read my list of qualities of a good coach before that :))
Zumba is an excellent option for those who want to do dancing, the same Latin that I dreamed of, but due to age or physical limitations cannot do this, and boring rhythm and aerobics are not suitable!
This is a great option to keep your body in good shape! In one workout you work out many muscles of different groups. Here the back, arms, buttocks are involved, and of course the legs are fully involved. If you have not done anything before and led a sedentary lifestyle, then get ready for the initial creep. Over time, your body will get stronger, your stamina and productivity will increase, and running up to the 9th floor with a bag will no longer seem like an insurmountable task for you! But don’t forget that when it comes to your figure, you always need an integrated approach!
If at first I studied every day, now I study once a week for myself, for the soul, for pleasure. I am sure that everyone will be able to choose the best option for themselves. I recommend Zumba to everyone, it won’t let you feel sad and, in my opinion, it’s a great way to spend time with the whole family!
Thanks everyone! Be healthy, beautiful, and most importantly happy!))

I go to Zumba from time to time, since I have a gym membership for any class, but it’s not my thing. I don't get caught up in the fast paced movements and I just get bored. and it’s not feminine. It’s not dancing, it’s jumping on the spot.

I liked it from the first lesson. Catchy music and fast movements combine various dance styles and fitness trends. Belly dancing, Latin dancing, club dancing, aerobics, etc. have merged into one direction. By the end of the lesson you feel cheerful and positive.

Didn't find it
In my quest to lose weight, I discovered a wonderful way - Zumba Fitness. Zumba is a very energetic, simple dance that will increase your heart rate and help burn calories. Since I didn’t have time to go to the gym (and didn’t have extra money for a subscription), I downloaded video workouts from the Internet. The advantage is that classes can be done at home for free and at a time convenient for you. There is no need to go anywhere or waste time traveling in public transport. If you try at home and are not lazy, the effect will appear quickly. I did Zumba almost every day and really enjoyed it. I spent from 25 to 45 minutes on classes, depending on the duration of the video training. The scales showed my weight decreasing. By the way, with regular exercise, I lost 5 kilograms in 2 weeks. Considering my sedentary work for 9 hours every day in the office, I will say that the weight loss went quite well and was noticeable on the figure. So if you love to dance, Zumba will be a good way to lose weight.

I like Zumba: each dance is in a different style, you don’t need to learn anything special - everything is so simple that you can pick it up on the fly. The music is chosen in such a way that it lights up. We also had two trainers conduct the training at once - very convenient.
