“Girls’ breasts are the first to lose weight.” Nutritionist, doctor and trainer debunk myths about fat and muscle

Beautiful bust

Firm and healthy breasts of any size and shape are considered beautiful.

5 basics of beautiful breasts

1. Gymnastics for the bust.

Physical exercise strengthens the ligaments on which the breasts are suspended and creates reliable muscle support for it, which is why it remains in good shape for a long time. In your daily morning routine, you should include push-ups from the floor or wall, repeated 10–15 times. The following exercise is very effective: arms folded in front of you, elbows apart, palms closed. It is necessary to squeeze your palms tightly 20 times in a row.

2. Water treatments for skin toning

. Add a contrast shower and circular massage with a shower head under medium pressure of warm water to your breast care.

3. Creams and lotions.

Keeps the skin young and elastic, perfectly tightens. For the breast, special creams and lotions are produced, intended for the décolleté area, moisturizing and nourishing the skin. Some companies produce special creams with a lifting effect - under the influence of such a product, the skin tightens and the breasts rise. Cosmetics are used every evening after a shower.

Important! Cream is never applied to the areola area.

4. Bra.

Supports breasts of any size from stretching, protects ligaments and skin from sagging. If your breasts are small, then it is acceptable to go without it for several hours. You should definitely wear a bra before playing sports so that your breasts do not change shape under the influence of physical activity and gravity. For this purpose, special elastic sports bras with wide straps that do not restrict movement have been created. It should be taken into account that most of our clothes are designed for a bra and look bad without it.

5. Proper nutrition.

If you want to maintain a beautiful breast shape for as long as possible, then you should not completely give up eating fat, as this is an important component of breast tissue. The daily dose of fat is from 60 to 90 grams.

How to save breasts

COVID-19✓ Safe

There are several factors that influence the shape, size, and firmness of a woman’s breasts, and these are not just age-related changes. Of course, with the development of plastic surgery, any woman has an excellent opportunity to preserve the beauty of her main feminine dignity for as long as possible, but we must not forget that ladies can do something on their own to preserve their breasts.

What should you be wary of, what is really detrimental to a woman’s breasts? Firstly, injuries of any kind - from domestic to industrial. Injuries can cause malignancies. Try to protect your breasts from blows or injuries and be sure to see a mammologist if an injury does occur.

Infections are another enemy of the breast. Any inflammatory processes in the female genital organs disrupt the production of hormones by the ovaries. The mammary gland, being an integral part of the reproductive system, immediately reacts to the emerging imbalance by the formation of nodes and the development of inflammatory processes. This is how mastopathy arises - a benign disease of the mammary gland, manifested in the pathological proliferation of its tissues. You should not think that if mastopathy is benign, it does not need to be treated. It has a very large impact on a woman’s reproductive function and in some cases can lead to breast cancer. Mastopathy is a very common disease and affects approximately 9 out of 10 women.

Abortion is simply destructive for the breast. The fact is that immediately after the implantation of the embryo into the uterine cavity, hormonal changes begin - in this way the body prepares for the upcoming birth. After an abortion, the body, by inertia, continues to produce hormones responsible for the normal development of pregnancy, and it is very difficult for it to immediately return to its original state. A malfunction of the hormonal system develops, which primarily affects the mammary glands, in which benign formations may begin to develop. For the same reason, nulliparous women who protect themselves from unwanted pregnancy with oral contraceptives are at great risk. Basically, they are all created on the basis of hormonal drugs and, although studies confirm that contraceptives are not a risk factor for breast cancer, nevertheless, their long-term use (more than 4 years) can provoke the development of tumors.

Among women whose first pregnancy was after 30, the largest number of patients with breast cancer and other breast diseases is recorded. Over the years, the body loses the ability to adequately meet the hormonal changes that occur during pregnancy and, as a result, responds with the formation of various tumors and nodes in the mammary glands.

Various methods of rapid weight loss are very dangerous not only for breasts, but also for women’s health in general, especially express diets and taking all kinds of widely advertised “miracle” remedies. In fact, they are not truly miraculous, because... do not solve the main problem - not only weight loss, but also maintaining it at a certain level. Why is sudden weight loss dangerous for the mammary gland? The fact is that some foods directly affect the hormonal balance in the body, which leads to the formation of various tumors in the breast, and are also capable of breaking down fatty tissue. That is why, if a woman decides to lose weight, this must be done gradually, otherwise she may lose not only her health, but also her breasts. Scientists advise eliminating fatty, canned, and smoked foods from your diet and, conversely, eating more cereals, citrus fruits, and carotene-rich vegetables - cabbage, carrots, etc.

And, of course, excessive tanning is very harmful to the breasts. This doesn’t mean that you can’t sunbathe at all, you just need to approach it wisely and not “burn out.” The skin of the chest and décolleté area is thin and easily vulnerable, and the sun's rays contribute to its rapid aging, forming pigment spots on the surface of the skin, so it is best to sunbathe in the morning and evening. If you decide to sunbathe during the day at any cost, it is best to use sunscreen with a special UF filter. In addition, under no circumstances is it recommended for a woman to sunbathe without a bra, even in a solarium.

By the way, a tight and uncomfortable bra is another point that directly affects the beauty of the breasts. The straps can cut into the skin, the breasts can be clamped as if in cups, as if in a vice, which disrupts its normal blood supply and reduces its tone. Even if a woman has small breasts and goes without a bra, she should wear a bra while playing sports or other types of physical activity. It goes without saying that during pregnancy and breastfeeding a bra is a must.

A very simple, but useful and effective way to keep your breasts healthy is regular cold water. Daily dousing of the décolleté area with cold water improves blood supply, elasticity and firmness of the blood vessels of the breast and skin of the mammary glands. Showering each breast and massaging the breasts with a soft brush in a circular motion near the nipples are very useful. You can also perform a regular breast massage, doing it very carefully, practically without touching the mammary glands. The massage is carried out with stroking movements under and above the breasts towards the shoulders; after the massage, the skin is softened with jojoba or aloe oil, which can be replaced with body milk. After the water massage, the breasts should be carefully wiped with a towel without rubbing it. The breast skin is then treated with cream or nourishing lotion. It is best to use special cosmetics for sensitive breast skin, because... they are created on the basis of natural products and contain extracts from plants, collagen, elastin, vitamin A, protein, etc., which help retain moisture in the skin, making it more elastic. If you cannot tolerate prolonged exposure to cold water, you can cover your chest with pieces of ice made from mint or chamomile infusion. This procedure leads to muscle contraction and improved blood supply to the blood vessels of the chest, causing the muscles and skin to become more elastic.

Of course, physical exercise is also very beneficial for breast health, but you shouldn’t think that you can increase your breast size with stretching and exercise. Such exercises will only help strengthen the pectoral muscles and make the breasts more elastic, but breast enlargement is only possible with the help of plastic surgery.

Effects on the breasts of pregnancy and childbirth

Sometimes, after finishing breastfeeding, the baby's breasts sag, lose their shape and elasticity. To prevent unwanted changes, it is necessary to properly care for your breasts during pregnancy and lactation. Starting from the first weeks of pregnancy, it is recommended to constantly wear a special maternity bra, the size of the cups and the width of the shoulder straps should increase as the size of the breast changes. If your bra doesn't support your breasts anymore, you need to buy a new one. In late pregnancy, it is advisable to sleep in a comfortable bra or top. Pregnant women should not take hot baths: they cause the skin to lose elasticity. Optimal water temperature: 28–32 degrees. Breast skin needs daily nutrition and hydration to maintain elasticity.

Bust exercises

Exercising will help you lose weight so your breasts don't get smaller. Even when the mammary gland loses weight by 1-3 cm, thanks to special gymnastics it will tighten again. Pilates and swimming, stretching or yoga, etc. are best suited for maintaining breasts.

What exercises help restore your bust after losing weight.

  1. Wall push-ups, 8-10 repetitions;
  2. Lying on your back, you need to stretch your arms up with weights (dumbbells). Slowly move them behind your head, all the way to the floor, and then back. You cannot bend your limbs, and the weight of the projectile is no less than a kilogram. If you don’t have one, you can fill a small bottle with sand, which can completely replace a one-kilogram dumbbell. Perform approximately 7-8 approaches of this exercise;
  3. Connect the areas of the wrists, clasping them with your palms. You need to stretch forward 50 times;
  4. Alternately, in a standing position, you need to raise your outstretched arms with dumbbells one kilogram at a time. For each limb it is necessary to perform about a dozen repetitions;
  5. Fold your hands in a prayer gesture, placing them in front of you at chest level. You need to squeeze your palms intensely, alternately making smooth movements and then sharp ones. Perform at least 50 repetitions;
  6. Hands should be clasped and raised above your head, straightening them. Then slowly lower your arms until they are parallel to your chest, then also slowly raise them back without unclenching. Perform 5-8 repetitions;
  7. Perform a movement that imitates skiing; you need to take dumbbells in your hands instead of poles, and perform the exercise at a slow pace;
  8. Reduction of elbows. Sitting on a chair, you need to spread your arms to the sides, connecting them with your elbows. Do 20 repetitions; while performing this element, a clear chest tension should be felt.

Similar techniques will help you avoid losing breasts while losing weight. The main thing is not to include running or jumping in the gymnastics complex, because of which the bust dangles too much, stretching the ligamentous apparatus. Do not overuse push-ups or planks.

All gymnastic elements performed with the face pointing down also contribute to spraining the ligaments. It is better to replace such exercises with vertical push-ups from the wall.

During training, you can lose weight without losing your breasts, however, you must always remember about proper breathing. The greatest effort should occur at the moment of exhalation. You also can’t train without a special bra-top that perfectly holds your breasts and prevents stretching. Such gymnastic exercises will not take much time, however, they will help you lose weight without losing breast parameters.

Stretch marks

Stretch marks occur when the body is exposed to the following factors:

  • with a genetic predisposition, if women in the family are prone to stretch marks;
  • with a sharp change in hormonal levels and with a rapid increase in body weight with its subsequent decrease.

In this case, the fibers located deep in the skin are torn and the spaces between them are filled with connective tissue, first acquiring a pinkish tint and then white. In fact, a stretch mark is a scar located under the skin.

Ways to combat stretch marks

The principle of treating stretch marks is similar to the treatment of any scars - products and procedures are recommended that promote the resorption of tissue defects and smooth the surface of the skin.

On sale you can see cosmetic preparations for stretch marks that have already appeared. Salon procedures are also effective, for example, mesotherapy - substances that promote the resorption of stretch marks are injected into the skin through multiple superficial injections. Laser or chemical peeling is popular, removing the surface layer of cells and smoothing the skin. Tanning makes stretch marks less noticeable. All breast procedures should be selected by a cosmetologist.

Prevention of stretch marks

1. From the third month of pregnancy, it is recommended to use special creams or gels morning and evening to prevent the appearance of stretch marks. Regular olive oil, which is regularly rubbed into the chest, has a good effect. The fats and vitamin E it contains strengthen the subcutaneous elastic fibers.

2. Avoid weight fluctuations - rapid weight gain followed by weight loss leads to stretch marks.

3. If your mother or sister is prone to stretch marks, follow a “Mediterranean style” diet. It includes a lot of proteins (meat, fish, cheese) and vegetable fats (olive and sunflower oil), which strengthen connective tissues, and few sweets and products made from white, refined flour (baked goods, pasta), which promote fullness and increase the looseness of tissues.

Reasons for the decrease

Why do your breasts get smaller when you lose weight? Most ladies struggling with extra pounds encounter a similar problem. According to physiology, breasts melt during weight loss for several reasons.

  1. The fat layer is thinning. The mammary glands are surrounded by a lipid layer, which is necessary to protect such an important organ, which during lactation will produce milk for feeding the baby. In addition, a layer of fat gives a woman’s bust a pleasant fullness and roundness. The fat layer protects the glands from traumatic factors and temperature changes. This layer contains a supply of nutrition if the mother lacks the necessary substances for full breastfeeding. How much fat there is in the bust depends only on genetics. But in the process of fat burning, the breasts always lose weight, although sometimes not noticeably.
  2. Weakening of the muscle corset, decreased skin tone. It is impossible to pump up a bust like a bodybuilder, because there are no muscle tissues in its tissues. But there are plenty of them around the gland. They form a kind of supporting corset, like a bra made of muscles. If a woman has lost weight and her breasts have become smaller, it means that due attention has not been paid to training the muscles that support the bust, which have weakened greatly and led to sagging. Therefore, when losing weight, you need to take care of both the muscles and the condition of the skin, which does not have time to get used to the new position and sags. To avoid such unpleasant surprises, it is recommended to perform special gymnastics.
  3. Another reason for breast reduction during weight loss is considered to be relaxation of Cooper's ligaments. These are thin connective tissue structures that maintain the elasticity and pleasant shape of such an outstanding organ. Incorrect underwear or sudden weight loss, neglect of wearing a bra and age-related changes inevitably lead to stretching of the ligamentous structures and sagging breasts.

Experts warn that you need to worry more not about maintaining breast volume when losing weight, but about preventing bust deformation, the formation of stretch marks on the skin and sagging.

What will increase breast size

  • Correct posture.
    Straighten your back and straighten your shoulders. Your breasts will immediately look beautiful. There are many training videos on the Internet from Pilates, ballet, and courses on beautiful posture. In just a couple of months you will see not only beautiful posture, but also get rid of pain in the cervical and thoracic spine.
  • Physical training
    . Develop the muscles of the chest, on which it is located, like on a platform. Developed muscles mean visually larger size. You can choose a set of exercises in the gym with an individual trainer. Any fitness activity requires regularity.
  • Creams.
    The phytoestrogens contained in them act locally, being absorbed through the skin. However, the effect is short-lived and stops at the end of the course of use. Many doctors do not approve of this type of correction, and many drugs from the category of dietary supplements have not been tested for safety.
  • Plastic surgery.
    During surgery, a silicone implant of the desired size and type is installed in the breast tissue. The chest takes on a beautiful shape. Cons: high price. Like any operation, breast surgery is associated with certain risks. Mammologists and plastic surgeons recommend replacing the implant every 10–15 years.

Why does the bust sag

Why breasts may sag, in addition to the wrong approach to losing weight. Firstly, ladies with an excessively large bust face a similar problem. In such a case, it sags under its own weight. To solve this problem, you need to adjust your diet by reducing calories. Additionally, you need to perform a special gymnastic complex to strengthen the muscle tissue that supports the bust.

Very often, the cause of sagging breasts is carrying a child and feeding him. During pregnancy, the mammary glands change; they become fuller, enlarged, and the layer of fat thickens.

After childbirth, the breasts become even larger due to the flow of milk into them. But after breastfeeding stops, the mammary glands return to normal.

To help them, it is also recommended to perform special strengthening exercises that support and add elasticity. To visually lift your bust, it is recommended to control your posture. If it is correct, the bust looks more attractive and taller.

What is mastopathy

Many middle-aged women have mastopathy and are associated with hormonal fluctuations in the body, as well as constant psycho-emotional stress. It is considered a disease when a woman begins to experience discomfort from it - the gland, which increases in the second half of the cycle, compresses the nerve endings, causing pain that radiates to the shoulder or arm. Important! Scientists have proven that the presence of mastopathy itself does not increase the risk of developing breast cancer.

Doctors begin to treat mastopathy when it causes discomfort to the patient or the formations reach a certain size. Treatment of mastopathy is usually carried out by a gynecologist-endocrinologist. He will prescribe the necessary examination and treatment.

Hypomastia - symptoms and treatment

In cases of insufficiency of hormones for the formation of mammary glands, hormone therapy will be an effective treatment method. It is prescribed by a mammologist and endocrinologist after a complete examination. It is important to minimize unwanted side effects that may occur, especially in young women.

There is also a method of physiotherapeutic treatment of hypomastia using compresses and infrared radiation, however, these methods are effective only at the stage of formation of the mammary glands and should be carried out exclusively by an experienced specialist.

The main method of treating hypomastia is surgical. It is called augmentation mammoplasty or breast replacement. With this operation, you can create the desired shape and volume of the breast.

The goal of mammoplasty is to achieve a good and long-lasting aesthetic result while maintaining nipple sensitivity. If the erogenous sensitivity of this area was initially absent, then, unfortunately, it is impossible to restore this function either with the help of conservative treatment or surgery. The same applies to impaired breastfeeding due to anatomical underdevelopment of the mammary gland.

Breast augmentation continues to be one of the most popular plastic surgeries worldwide.[1] Women's desire for improved self-esteem and a more feminine appearance has led to the evolution and widespread use of augmentation mammoplasty.

Different patients resort to breast replacement: both stable, well-adapted and socially sociable girls, and insecure women with depression and low self-esteem.[11] Moreover, representatives of the second type of patients, as many studies show, after mammoplasty become more sociable, and their self-esteem increases noticeably.[12][13]

Breast aesthetics depend on visual and tactile attractiveness[10]. In this regard, when undergoing mammoplasty, the following criteria should be adhered to:

  • correct symmetry, flow, contour and proportions of the chest;
  • softness, smoothness and sensitivity, especially in the nipple-areolar complex;
  • the normal volume should be 300-500 g with greater fullness laterally and anteriorly to the nipple-areolar complex, and the lateral inclination should be 45 degrees.

Preoperative preparation

Before undergoing surgery, a woman must undergo a series of examinations to exclude the presence of hidden chronic diseases. The list of examinations includes:

  • blood tests and urinalysis;
  • ECG;
  • X-ray of the lungs or fluorography;
  • Ultrasound of the mammary glands;
  • Doppler ultrasound of the veins of the lower extremities.

If you have chronic diseases, you will need to consult a specialist doctor.

Blood tests are also required:

  • general blood analysis;
  • biochemical analysis to assess the amount of total protein, urea, creatinine, bilirubin, cholesterol, ALT, AST, glucose, potassium and sodium;
  • coagulogram (study of INR, PTI, APTT and fibrinogen level);
  • determination of blood group and Rh factor;
  • blood test for hepatitis B and C, syphilis and HIV infection.

The first three indicators are valid for two weeks, the blood type and Rh factor are unchanged throughout life, the results of tests for infections are valid for three months.

How is mammoplasty performed?

The breast augmentation surgery itself is performed under general anesthesia and lasts from 45 to 90 minutes, depending on the patient’s initial data and the surgeon’s experience.

Various implants are used to give the breasts the required shape. They are round and anatomical (drop-shaped) in shape.

According to filling, implants are:

  • saline - filled with saline solution, if damaged they can leak into the breast tissue;
  • silicone - contain medical silicone, are safe for the body, since if damaged, the silicone does not spread, but remains in the capsule.

According to the type of surface, there are smooth, textured (rough) and polyurethane (fabric-like surface). The latter are most often used in re-endoprosthetics - replacing breast implants.

Another type of breast augmentation is lipofilling - this is an operation to transplant the patient’s own fat cells after appropriate treatment in a centrifuge into the breast area.

Possible complications

The following complications may occur after surgery:

  • capsular contracture - the appearance of fibrous tissue compressing the installed implant;
  • early formation of hematoma or seroma;[14]
  • infections;[15][16][17][18]
  • asymmetry;[4]
  • altered sensation of the nipple areola.[4][19]

Late complications include deflation or rupture of implants and connective tissue disorders.[20]

Recommendations on how not to lose breasts while losing weight

To lose weight and maintain breasts, it is also recommended to follow the following rules:

  • Wear quality underwear that is the right size—one that supports your breasts well.
  • Keep your body hydrated, this will help maintain the elasticity of the skin.
  • Do not overuse tanning, as this accelerates the aging process of the skin.

Weight loss, which is accompanied by a loss of more than 10 kilograms of weight, will in any case affect the condition of the breasts, especially after 40 years. In this case, it will be possible to restore the preliminary firmness and fullness of the breasts only through surgical intervention.

In order to maintain the beauty and shape of your breasts while losing weight, you need to take care of them not only during weight loss, but also after it. You need to remember about exercise, massage, and a balanced diet.

Linseed oil

You cannot exclude fats if you are on a diet. Add flaxseed oil to your diet. Develop the habit of drinking one teaspoon of oil every morning (it contains female phytohormones that strengthen the breasts). Your skin and hair will thank you, and your body cells will be saturated with healthy fats.

Palm squeezing is a useful exercise for maintaining chest muscles.
Bend your elbows in front of you, clasp your palms together, take a deep breath and clench your palms, tightening your chest. Do 8-10 sets of 5-10 reps. Text: Diana Snetkova

Sports bra

When exercising, be sure to wear a sports bra. During exercise, the mammary glands are subjected to swinging in different directions, as well as moving up and down, which leads to a sprain of Cooper's ligaments. Thanks to Cooper's ligaments, the breasts have a toned shape.

A sports top will tightly hold your breasts in their usual position. If you do not adhere to this rule, then no supportive bra will help in the future.

Perform the “wall push” exercise - it will engage the muscles of the chest and shoulders, and will also get rid of fat in this area. Press against the doorway with bent arms (elbows) and press for several minutes. Find a set of hand exercises here.
