However, this procedure is not mandatory. Packages of brown rice usually come with cooking instructions, and manufacturers don't say anything about soaking it.
- When determining the cooking time for brown rice, it is advisable to focus on the manufacturer’s instructions, which are located on the pack. If the packaging is lost or does not contain a description of the process of preparing the product, then the housewife needs to know that brown rice is usually cooked in a saucepan for 40 minutes after boiling water, in a slow cooker - 5-10 minutes longer, since it takes time for the water to boil. Steamed rice takes one and a half times longer to cook.
- Pour cold water over the rice and then bring to a boil over medium heat. The first 5-10 minutes boil it over medium heat, removing the foam, then reduce the intensity of the flame and continue cooking the rice for 30-35 minutes.
- The optimal ratio of brown rice and water for preparing a crumbly side dish is 1:3, that is, for a glass of cereal you need to take 3 glasses of water.
- You can salt brown rice at any stage of cooking, but usually this is done 20-30 minutes before it is ready.
- When preparing rice as a side dish, herbs and vegetables are often added to it. Vegetables are usually cooked separately, combined with rice at the very last stage.
Cleaning method using raw grains
You can also cleanse your body well in 10 days if you eat raw rice:
- Every day, for 10 days, count out as many grains as you are old.
- In the morning, swallow this amount raw without drinking water.

- Last meal - 19-00 hours.

Preparing the body for procedures

Nutrition during the cleansing period with rice
Fatty, fried, smoked foods are excluded from the diet. Add honey, fruits and vegetables. Rice is eaten for breakfast, after which a break in food is taken for 3 hours, depending on the method. Drink water before eating cereal, and then refuse liquids for 2 hours. The last meal takes place at 18.00.
Recommendations:
- salt is completely or partially excluded from the diet;
- an apple eaten half an hour before eating rice enhances the cleansing effect;
- during the course, consume at least 2 liters of clean water per day;

Combining two or more methods of cleansing is not allowed - this will lead to depletion of the body.
Diet on rice and kefir (3 days)
The combination of rice and kefir promotes rapid weight loss:
1 day. Breakfast consists of an apple and a glass of kefir (1%).
Lunch of 100 g of low-fat cottage cheese and a glass of kefir. Dinner consists of an apple and a glass of chamomile infusion. Drink kefir before going to bed.
Day 2. Breakfast as on the first day. For lunch, drink half a glass of kefir and eat 100 g of boiled rice. Dinner – rice and kefir 100 grams each, an apple.
Day 3. Breakfast and lunch as on the second day. For dinner you need to eat 1 apple and drink a glass of kefir. Before going to bed, eat some boiled rice.

There is a folding method, in which you simply boil as much salted water as possible in a large saucepan so that the rice grains do not stick together during cooking, and then throw the cooked rice onto a sieve, let the water drain and season the rice with oil.
This method is good for folding pilafs - for them, according to the recipe, the rice is usually not cooked so that it reaches the cauldron with other ingredients.
My favorite way is different. If you follow the rules exactly, you will succeed easily. There are few rules here, only two main ones:
- rice to water ratio
- cooking time.
Rule No. 1: proportions Take any container that can measure both rice and water: a glass, a mug, a ladle, a bowl. Measure out 1 such container (usually called a “piece”) of rice and fill it with 1.5 containers (parts) of boiling water. If you have, say, 2 cups of rice, then you will need 3 cups of boiling water and so on. To be even more sure of the future friability, fry the rice in melted butter (maybe with spices) before pouring boiling water over it. Take a large pan so that the rice does not “run away”. Even if you cook only 2 cups, a three-liter pan will be just right.
Rule No. 2: time The cooking formula is as follows: after boiling, cook the rice without opening the lid - not even once - for exactly 12 minutes. First 3 minutes on high heat; 7 minutes on medium and 2 minutes on low. Immediately remove from heat and - without opening - wrap in a blanket or thick towel for another 12 minutes. All is ready.
How to cook round rice
Round rice is tender, starchy, and absorbs a lot of liquid. It shouldn’t be crumbly; it’s not for nothing that they cook porridge and make puddings from it. This rice does not need to be rinsed. It is usually filled with water in a ratio of 2 parts rice to 1 part water and boiled until all the water is absorbed, and then add milk or cream, or coconut milk, as well as sugar, spices and other additives - as required by the recipe. Usually the amount of liquid is about 2 more parts.
How to cook brown rice
Brown (brown, unrefined) can be any type of rice. And depending on the variety, you must select the cooking method. But there will always be two important differences: the amount of water and the cooking time. Rice that is not peeled from its thin shell (bran), of course, takes longer to cook and requires more moisture. Both of them are about a third more. Be sure to read the instructions on the package - only the manufacturer knows exactly how this particular rice is processed and how best to cook it.
How to cook wild rice
Wild rice is actually not rice at all, but an aquatic grass whose grains are very similar in shape to rice. These grains are quite dense, so for a mixture with regular rice - and most often for solo packages - they are pre-steamed.
Typically, this rice is cooked in a ratio of 1 part rice to 3.5 parts boiling water. Wild rice usually takes at least 35 minutes to cook. I think the folding method for wild rice is quite convenient, you really can’t go wrong. Just in case, check the cooking time on the package.
How to cook rice for pilaf
The ideal rice for our most popular Uzbek pilaf grows in the same place where it is prepared, that is, in Central Asia. And it is sold in markets, by weight. Different varieties are suitable: alanga, sanam, chungara, lazar, and, of course, devzira. Any type of rice should be washed very thoroughly - so that the draining water is completely clear - and then soaked for 2-3 hours in slightly salted warm water. The water must cover the rice completely, otherwise it will break into pilaf. Further cooking instructions are usually detailed in the recipe for the pilaf itself. You can cook pilaf from other varieties of rice, both long-grain (Basmati) and medium-grain (Kuban). But the conditions for preparing rice for pilaf remain the same.
How to cook sushi rice
Only special rice is suitable for sushi; it is most often written as “rice for sushi.” What we call “japonica” is also suitable. First, rinse the rice in 5-6 waters until the water is completely transparent. Fill with cold(!) water in a ratio of 1:1 plus another 10% water, bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover with a lid and cook for 13-14 minutes without lifting the lid. Then wrap the pan in a blanket or thick towel for 30–40 minutes. Transfer the rice to a large, unvarnished wooden bowl (do not use the crust that forms on the bottom of the pan for sushi). Place the warm rice in the center, pour in all the dressing prepared according to the recipe, spread the rice with a spatula, then gather it back into the center together with the dressing - and so on 4 times. Leave for 10-15 minutes. When you make rolls, the temperature of the rice should be 32–34 °C, not colder. Note: If you do not have a wooden utensil, reduce the amount of dressing by a third compared to what is specified in the recipe.
